Canadian West Coast Gulf Islands are interesting. Loaded with deer and trees. Fish nearby.
Flaky people live to live there, though, and that can be a problem.
The islands are a lot like the Southern Alaska Coast. Think Ketchikan. More rain than you might like.
A boat of some kind fits the lifestyle.
Hunting, fishing, wood heat :)

Crow, from what I gather you live pretty far off the grid. Where do you get internet?

I'd like to be humorous and say "right out of the ether", but I live on a hybrid island, too damn close to a large town, but still very woodsy. I have somewhat unreliable hydro and cable, and a huge backup battery-bank to compensate. I disappear from the online world, sometimes for up to a week, and that is why: the cable is down :)

Ideal situation:

Pleasant temperature.

Be able to grow everything my wife and I eat.

Live far away from the decaying modern world.

Water strorage tanks and filters.

Solar panels.

Reduce need to buy things.

Buy lentils, grains etc in bulk.

Trip into town maybe once every six months.

Learn any good poems by heart.

Ideal situation.

I agree with you.

What do you mean specifically by "flaky" people?

You don't know what a 'flake' is?
Lucky you.
Think of all the most annoying, idiotic, useless attributes a person might have.
Add them all together, puree with vomit, garnish with an overdone left-wing, and there you have it.

People get upset when I do it.
Others get upset when I don't.
That's life, for a crow.

If only the people could accept that it is what it is.

That would be ideal.

That would certainly be good.
But remember how difficult it was for you to do exactly that?
Me too.
