DLA/Deathmetal.org publication
December 05, 2012, 01:43:02 PM
I’m not sure if this has come up before but it would be great if DLA/ Deathmetal.org ever publishes a book. All that really needs to be included are a few chapters on composition, genre-developments and the underlying philosophy as outlined on the site. The rest could be made up of reviews and therefore function partly as a reference book. It would certainly make for interesting reading (even to non-metal audiences) and be the first of its kind among other books about metal. Milking the fanatical love/hate reputation of ANUS could make it a best-seller.

There was something called "
The Portable ANUS
" that was something similar to what you mention. It is mostly the philosophic interviews/articles of ANUS but it would be nice to have something similar for the album reviews.

This is planned for the future.
We've had a few setbacks: work on the other site, transition to the new site, flakeouts by staff and volunteers, etc.

Definetely. Would be great if a collection of writings could be published.

To this day,
Lords of Chaos
is still one of the best books out there on the topic of metal as art/ideology. Unfortunately it's presented in the style of a tabloid newspaper which does it more of disservice than anything. The Celtic Frost biography,
Only Death is Real
, is ok but like most books about metal it is more for fans that worship idols.
