I find people tend to excessively romanticize the past - I wouldn't ask if there's any 'normal' people left but rather if there are any yet. I'm no historian but from what I know of the past people tended to act in Neanderthalic, pea-brained, reactionary, fear-based egocentric modalities at least as much then as they do now. And yes, that includes indigenous peoples who would live from the lands, be one with nature, avoid poor crop yields via ritual sacrifice to the gods and do whatever else their tradition dictated. With modern technology we're just better able to recognize and study the phenomenon.
