Hippie era science pseudoscience after all experts say

While the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or D.S.M., is the best tool now available for clinicians treating patients and should not be tossed out, he said, it does not reflect the complexity of many disorders, and its way of categorizing mental illnesses should not guide research.

As long as the research community takes the D.S.M. to be a bible, well never make progress, Dr. Insel said, adding, People think that everything has to match D.S.M. criteria, but you know what? Biology never read that book.

They're abandoning social determinism and "rolling back the clock" to biology and heredity in order to get superior results.

Good. Among other things, this lets us stop giving people false hope and start giving them accurate treatment.

One other attribute of exotericism is that it is based in facts, but not in reality. That is to say we look at reality, make conclusions about it in words or figures, and then we act on those, without ever again referring to reality itself to make sure we have the right idea.

Ideology and blind faith assumptions fit the exoteric pattern which makes them perfect methods of control. Im not talking about state control. Im talking about self-control. They enable us to go into a binary mode of questioning whether were following the agenda or not, and if we are, of writing everything else off and sallying forth in oblivion. With such mental control, we can forget the instability of our situation and pursue instead a certain type of brainwashed dedication.

Ha! Any time humans elect to pay no attention to reality, the rot starts up again.
The very idea of 'facts' has become questionable. What are 'facts', anyway? Some abstract idea dreamed up by people, to simulate reality and manipulate it out of the running? 'Facts' have a close correlation to 'statistics', which are another stand-in for reality.
Peter Hitchens said something, recently, about UK crime statistics, along the lines of:
"Statistics are showing a fast declining incidence of crimes being committed, which cannot be denied. While at the same time, the incidence of crimes being committed is undeniably increasing."
I suppose if you, yourself, are not the victim of crime, then as far as you know, there isn't much crime.
But if you do become a victim of crime, then reality has stepped in and reminded you that, yes, crime is actually happening, after all.

We're behaving as if contextless facts aren't really just an abstraction that we can't reliably act upon. The lack of context is because a projected vision has been substituted for the real world.

should be vs. is

City-dwellers.
Without hands-on contact with reality, what's left?
Interesting to note how many dirt-farmers, cowboys, land-workers are conservatives, vs. how many city-dwellers are leftists.
Real life vs. abstract life-substitution.
It amazes me, actually, how it is that any city-dwellers can be conservative-minded.
Perhaps those that are, are temporarily stuck, by circumstance, in a city-context, but plan to exit, asap.

In a act of extreme compassion, I would like to extent out to you all and say... Nobody cares. I'm not sure if there is anything positive to say about modern trains of thought other than the fact that we are so devoid of anything but the physical reality we have learned loads about physical matter.
