Apollonian = logic, facts, discrete intent
The Dionysian is the subconscious-aesthetic, the Apollonian is the logic we put into words and numbers.
Nietzsche sought to unify the two but recognized the "going under," one had to first escape into the Dionysian to know what one would think about the data the Apollonian provides.
