Winamp......is Dead!!!

Winamp is a media player for Windows-based PCs and Android devices, written by Nullsoft, now a subsidiary of AOL. It is proprietary freeware/shareware, multi-format, extensible with plug-ins and skins, and is noted for its graphical sound visualization, playlist, and media library features.
Winamp was developed by Justin Frankel and Dmitry Boldyrev, and its popularity grew quickly, along with the developing trend of MP3 file sharing.
On November 20, 2013, AOL announced that Winamp.com would shut down on December 20, 2013, and the software would no longer be available for download after that date.

If it started on april 1997, doesn't 2013 mark its 16th birthday, not 15th as the article says?

Most trivial forms of software end up killing themselves through useless feature bloat after their core functionality is complete. If your'e making audio players, or word processors, there really isn't a whole lot of room to improve.

Also, lol @ the "we coulda been ITunes!".

I used Winamp a ton when I was learning to play guitar. Most of the music I wanted to play was video game music from SNES games, and I couldn't buy soundtracks but I could download midi files of the songs. That Winamp let me put together playlists of midi tracks blew my young mind.
