Evidently, Ildjarn is on bandcamp now: http://ildjarn.bandcamp.com/

Is Ildjarn rising from the dead (turning a Jesus™)?

Ildjarn remains similar in appearance, to my sensibilities, to the rantings of an idiot-savant.

But that it just me.

Do you mean the music, the words or both?

The music

The detriment to the music is that a lot of the depth is accidental being an artifact of the recording process. I suppose to a degree the sounds I am hearing are intentional but I doubt their specifics were intentional.

The music of Ildjarn cannot be understood intellectually. It succeeds due to the sheer knuckleheadedness and honesty of it's execution. The sounds you hear therefore are beyond the concepts of intention or accuracy. It is pure spirit. A psychoacoustic nightmare.

At any rate, with all the new activity lately, I hope he does make a return to music. Hardangervidda was one of my all time favourites, but it would also be cool to see an expansion on the Sort Vokter sound or the newer tracks from Ildjarn-Nidhogg.

This is quite beautiful and it would have been nice to hear more along these lines.

Thanks I like it.

Perhaps Nidhogg keeps said savant qualities in check.

According to Nidhogg's youtube channel, that piece is credited only to Nidhogg. So perhaps he composed it himself. But I wonder just how much of the Ildjarn-Nidhogg material he is in fact responsible for. In interviews, Ildjarn seems to indicate that it was more the technical side he helped with, though compositionally there is a big improvement from Landscapes to Hardangervidda.

In a post on his youtube page, he wrote that he made both of them (svart dag and eksistenses jeger).
