ANUS.COM

This site reaches approximately 15,399 U.S. monthly uniques. The site is popular among a younger, slightly more male than female, more affluent audience. The site's audience's interests are television (Court TV Online, PBS Online, Nickelodeon, Yahoo TV Directory), specialty retail (Hot Topic, Best Buy, Circuit City) and movies (Internet Movie Database).

Does anyone know how they are determining statistics? They say they do it mainly through retailers, and this site has no such affiliations to my knowledge. I found this information slightly amusing.

The site also apparently ranks above average for African-American visits.

Well judging by the vast number of people the site attributes to "passers-by", the above characteristics you described fit your average metal fan: male, frequent movie-watcher, pot-smoker (explaining the "Nickelodeon", although I'm left dumbstruck by the predominance of Black viewers over that of Whites). I think the contributors here who ascribe to the ANUS ideology often fail to overlook the vast number of "normals" that traffic the site solely based off of the position of ANUS reviews in your average "google" search.

I think most people who chance upon the site are actually hoping to find porn.

Heh, we should compare anus.com stats, to anal.com and butsex.com and various other sites , might have more in common then with them then other metal sites.

But seriously, how the hell do they get your household income, race, education and age of children in your house from you IP? Seeing as about 80% of people have dynamic IPs anyway. I know for sure that my ISP doesn't have a clue about my education, income nor ethnicity.

I don't know what kind of details you need to give to get internet in America, but this site seems kinda; well full of crap if you ask me.

Good point. This site is also generally high up on the rankings for a lot of the death metal bands reviewed here, when you type it on google. In some cases, it's the band website, followed by wikipedia, followed by the anus band page. I've a feeling some of them just click on that, don't understand the reviews, look around a bit and then leave. It doesn't mean that they do or do not agree with the views of the site. Most of them probably don't even have the attention span to read whole articles.

Yeah the majority are idiots.  Just like the rest of the world.  Why is everyone so shocked when things like this come up.

Have you ever met an average Slayer fan?  Their personalities don't win awards.

Really? I guess that makes sense. It's funny to picture a porn-crazed teenager scrambling to click on a link that reads "ANUS.COM - MONSTROSITY reviews".

Actually, the first thing you get if you type "anus" on Google is this site, so it figures.

maybe the high rate of blacks is from a misinterpretation of the term 'black metal' - i.e. n!gger metal. just a thought.

Just out of curiosity, how does the rankings know the race of the visitor? I didn't know those are taken down by service providers, and even so, that they're legal to give out.

These people seem to be attempting to enforce dubious multicultural policies even through Internet rankings. "See ? EVERYONE loves [site name] ; you can see every minority and social category of people represented in there. People from all horizons, buying completely different kinds of stuff. That clearly demontrates we're all made to love each other and go to the Gay Pride."

I'd be very interested to see what they have to say about Nazi sites. Do they think African-Americans represent 60% of the viewers there too ?

EDIT : Crazy. What they have to say about nazi.org is this :

Quote
The site appeals to a 55-64 , heavily female, HH income up to $60k, more educated audience.

:o

Beware of the Nazi grandma's.

K

I wonder how they know our incomes, it seems a lot of us are pretty well off making 60+ or 100+ grand a year.

The audience key words(??) seem kind of random, they include; walmart, chris benoit, motley crue, and myspace is down twice.

EDIT:
"Audience Keywords
The audience keywords list shows keywords a site's audience tends to type in. These are often but not always the keywords that brought people to the site. The frequency represents how much more often members of this audience use those keywords compared to an average internet user."

Obviously this is the key to knowing that this is bullshit, done by someone who knows that this site contains both nihilists and nationalists.

what concerns me is that there very well may be a collection of personal information stored in an easily accessed location if you know where to look. it may be possible that someone or something is paying attention to what we do.

is the orwell vision of big brother coming true?
