Bands to add
November 04, 2007, 03:48:34 PM
If this were my archive, I'd add only the bands that are the best of the past, and any current bands that hold up that spirit and quality (Averse Sefira, Demoncy, Immolation, probably nothing else).

Some of those have been reviewed now, and quite a few aren't worth being on the archives.  Although there are plenty of bands there that would be interesting, I'd like to see some 'The Chasm' reviews fo sure.  There are also a few that have reviews in the neoclassical section, Reign in Blood and Crimson Massacre for starters.

Nihilist, Lemming Project, Miasma, dISEMBOWELMENT and The Chasm seem like obligatory reviews.

Removed bands that have already been reviewed from the list. Might have missed some, so if you catch any let me know and I'll edit it.

It seems a little difficult for one person to write all these reviews, I'm sure other members have written reviews for some of these elsewhere, with their permission why not put them in the neoclassical section?

Alexis did some interesting reviews in Audiofile last year. This was more about Ambient than Metal, though, I think.

I forgot to mention I would like to see a detailed DLA style review on Summoning's Minas Morgul if admin so desires and always found its omission strange. The Emperor/Enslaved split I second as well.

So Paradise Lost is "known garbage"? I wouldn't say this about their "Lost Paradise" and "Gothic" albums.

My vote goes to Judas Priest by the way. "Phobos" is also a worthy album.
Because I am more intelligent than you are.

I would upgrade Mercyful Fate from "interesting but not vital" to "important influence, maybe not for listening now." If nothing else for Don't Break the Oath. It was like Metallica, but better.

I think this site is weakest on the origins of metal. Stuff like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, the Misfits, Discharge, King Crimson, Mercyful Fate, Motorhead, Witchfynder General, Minor Threat, Angel Witch, Iggy Pop, the Ramones, Led Zeppelin, the Exploited, FEAR, Assassin, Kreator, and of course all the African blues artists who single-handedly invented music, the blues, and death metal.
