Art is supposed to awake something in the receiver, and if the creation has not been given a soul, I would not call it art, and this is what seperates the true from the fake in my view.

Read along with Ishan from years back:

and with Faust:

that quote embodies what the force that made ITNE such a great album, and high-point for BM as a whole and sadly, why Emperor was never able to fully recreate this in any of its following work.

Isahn sure came close with Lost In Reverie though

on a side note:

http://www.chroniclesofchaos.com/articles/news/4-852_emperor_reunite_plan_to_headline_inferno_and_wacken.aspx

a novelty for sure, and not much of one considering they've only been split up for three years now

interesting to see if this will only be a one-time only event or if it will unfold into a full tour and possibly new album...

Interesting that they wouldn't play a reunion with Faust?

Re: Emperor

yes I thought that at first but then read this:

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=42373

Quote
Announced as a "big surprise band," the whole arrangement was so secret that neither organizers of the magazine's anniversary party nor the band itself told their closest friends and associates until yesterday — amongst others, original EMPEROR drummer Faust, a member of SCUM alongside guitarist Samoth, was not present. "It's been a pain in the ass to keep it from friends actually," offers Samoth, "but we had to do it properly or not do it at all so we decided to keep it as secret as we could. Faust is doing a show in Notodden with BLOOD TSUNAMI tonight so he couldn't have made it anyway…"

Will there ever be a possibility of a reunited Emperor with you in it?

Baard:

I don`t think so. Firstly, a reunion in itself is unlikely to happen. Secondly, if a reunion should happen by any chance it would be more right that it would be Trym because he can after all play the entire set of Emperor classics. Me, I can just do the tracks I participated on. Sometimes it`s better to let sleeping dogs still sleep. My concentrate on the past when there is so much happening now?

so it seems that era of Emperor will remain forever dead...though anythings possible.

In the Nightside was a Classic. Anthems and Equilibrium had their moments. After that, who gives a fuck? STAY ENDED,EMPEROR!

The rehearsals are also enjoyable, raw and different, but unquie to themselves.  Although I agree with what you said.

Rehearsals at Gay Christ:

These are really essential listening.  Better sound than the demo itself to my ears!

They post at M-A, but they're about as unthrash as you can get. You might know them as Planetary Eulogy and Demiurge.
