Like DRI or COC or Cryptic Slaughter: Thrash, not "thrash metal" or other media stereotype.

I think it's done pretty well all in all. It sounds a bit too re-done, however for 2005, it's pretty good.

I never thought of COC or DRI as Thrash, more as a more Metallic version of Hardcore. Cryptic Slaughter's 'Money Talks', I remember, was a great album.

To me Thrash is Voi Vod, early Exodus, early Slayer, Celtic Frost (proto BM), Possessed (proto DM), and Hobbs' Angel of Death. I appreciate the aesthetic based Speed Metal tag, but surely if DRI and COC are to described as Thrash Metal and not "Crossover" (the genre buzzword of the time) then these bands would be described similairly; "Thrash Metal" being a media description and all.

Whoops. Just re-read yr first post. Still, the same argument applies regarding descriptive application if you wish to label the bands aesthetically.

They're not.

They're described as Thrash.

Thrash != metal

Thrash != punk

Thrash = Thrash

Are you sure those who are not familiar with any computer languages will understand what "!=" means?

For those who don't know:
!= means "does not equal".

the word thrash is getting to popular, and its getting annoying when it  refers to speed metal bands

It's even more annoying when it is applied to Hatebreed-esque shit.

 Thrash, not "thrash metal" or other media stereotype.

Sure you're right, but this stereotype became many years ago the real label of the style of very important bands that almost nobody knows as death or speed metal, but are instead very well known as thrash metal (something unexistent, yes) bands.

One more time the media wins.

Just curious, what exactly did Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Overkill etc. refer to their style as back in the early 80s?

They refered to their styles as thrash, speed, heavy, power, death, black, pink, banana nut bread, and probably other some other tags as well.  Metal was unfinite then.
