grindcore and such

WTF is "Waking the Cadaver"? Sounds necrophiliac.

The best grind is like the best punk: cynical, but not leftist/revolutionary. Over the top, but not comical. Humorous, but serious about their music.

Idiots try to distill the music into one of those extremes and the result is moronic shit that gives the genre a bad name, which is why death metal fans tend to shun grindcore as a tardherd -- unjustly so, in 2% of its cases.

Waking the Cadaver is another product of the current "deathcore" phase. trendy crap which borrows liberally from Devourment and some random metalcore band.

Down market hipster metal - the cultural equivalent of wanting a Prius and driving a liquorcycle.

I've recently realized that everything grind-core could have done to become something valuable is actually already realized by bands like Beherit: give the most primoridal, cthonic 'metal' essences their most basic form, and then dispense with any unnecessary embellishment.

Also, a note on Bolt Thrower: Their first two albums are the most successful synthesis of death metal and punk ever. There is no dissonance between the two forms at all.
