National Day of Slayer

National Day of Slayer
April 12, 2009, 02:38:41 PM

It's a good year to plan some exciting things for this date.

You could probably make and sell t-shirts for the event. People could also go to a local t-shirt shop and make a few custom shirts and sell them locally. I can't really think of anything else other than the typical desecration of holy sites, blasting slayer, and sacrificing your neighbor's dog.

I think they need to interview Slayer.

Need this posted -- National Day of Slayer

Please post everywhere, especially Metal-Archives, Brave Words and Ultimate Metal forums:

Originally inspired by the National Day of Prayer that religious groups created to draw attention to their beliefs, the National Day of Slayer was thought to be a holiday on June 6, 2006 -- that's 6/6/06 -- but now it has grown.

Thanks to support and enjoyment around the world, the National Day of Slayer is now the INTER-National Day of Slayer, and it happens every year on June 6 starting at hour six. On this day, metalheads worldwide stop the pointless activities of a boring world and listen to Slayer.

International Day of Slayer is bigger than one nation, or even one band. It's a celebration of metal music through one of its most articulate spokesbands. It's also revelry in the spirit that makes metal great. So on June 6, stop everything... and listen to SLAYER!

A Hessian high-holy day.

It should be "Hell Awaits" that is listened to.

Latest press release:

National Day of Prayer demands a National Day of Slayer

On May 7, Christians in the United States join in the National Day of Prayer. If you want a holiday with louder music, celebrate the Inter-National Day of Slayer on June 6, a holiday for the metal culture and the powerful music of Slayer.

On May 7, 2009, thousands of Christians throughout the United States will come together for the National Day of Prayer. Since we believe everyone should celebrate what is meaningful to them, we created the International Day of Slayer to unite people worldwide with a celebration of heavy metal.

While we bear our counterparts at the "National Day of Prayer Task Force" no ill-will, we'd like to remind them of a few salient facts:

- God can be misinterpreted. Slayer cannot. Slayer does not require you to understand the word, or the theology, or to believe in Heaven and Hell. You must only feel the power of this music and let it move you.

- The International Day of Slayer website has been translated into twelve languages including Hebrew and Icelandic. You can get your National Day of Prayer in only two, English and Spanish.

- People involved in religions often get confused over who is Us and who is Them. We suggest a simpler plan: You must listen to Slayer. Anyone not listening to Slayer is either Them, or forgot to take the day off to listen to Slayer.

- Prayer is a quiet, personal activity from which you get no immediate results. Listening to Slayer clears your mind and gets you ready for the only thing that matters in life, which is living it and making things happen.

- If you're going to pray, you want God to think you're good and not evil. Slayer embraces both evil and good, so you don't have to censor your actions before they happen. Slayer is a new morality for a dystopian age.

- The National Day of Prayer wants you to ask God to do good things for us. But if there is a God, he made Slayer, which is clearly a good thing that can be enjoyed already.

In our great pluralistic nation, every culture needs a voice. Metal is a subculture for everyone who understand metal, and Slayer are spokespeople we can all appreciate. Celebrate the National Day of Slayer and show your support for this recognition of metal culture and SLAYER!

I will be holding a "Slay-in" in Madison, WI.  I will obviously be blaring the Slayer classics.  I was just wondering what else might be appropriate to add to my playlist?  I was thinking "Blackened Images."  Maybe some Sadistic Intent.  Any other suggestions?

These people have the ball. We'll see if they drop it or run with it.

Metal Needs a Holiday

Groups of people. There are tons of them. They all get to be declared a culture, have their own holidays and be recognized by others as a reason why people do things. Why should metal be different? It's a culture with its own values, customs and members.

Even more, all of them recognize Slayer, and many of them are of that finer quality of human being that enjoys Slayer regularly. So while Christians get their National Day of Prayer, and every country has an independence day, it's only fair that metalheads get an International Day of Slayer.

Starting every year on June 6 at 6:00 AM (6/6/6) it's a good time to take the day off, and listen to Slayer!

* Listen to Slayer at full blast in your car.
* Listen to Slayer at full blast in your home.
* Listen to Slayer at full blast at your place of employment.
* Listen to Slayer at full blast in any public place you prefer.

Play it loud and be proud! And then, come see this chronicle of a small group of metalheads trying to get their holiday recognized -- the International Day of Slayer.

International Day of Slayer -- June 6, every year.

New idea.

I made this for fun and have been using it to spread word online.

When: June 6th
Why: Because it's fuckin' Slayer... do you need a reason?
How: BLAST IT BABY! (no headphones-be obnoxious)

If you have babies, elderly, mother-in-laws, pets, or anyone else who might complain to you or be disturbed about you blasting Slayer.... turn it up louder to drown out their voices.

Headbang in public places.

Wear everything you have that says "Slayer" on it. If you have nothing...make stuff. Be evil!

When people ask why, say, "Because it's Slayer." And if they ask why you would do something for a 'stupid band' say... "Ok, I lied before, to spare you... it's Satan, he's making me do it. I owe him my soul, but I already gave that to the government. This is the only way he wouldn't give my body to the Obama dog for dinner."

Bring portable speakers for your mp3 player and blast it: on a city bus, in a park, in the grocery store, at the doctor's office, at your cousin's funeral, at a wedding, inside a church, in public bathrooms, in crowded parking lots, anywhere else you may venture.

If you must leave your music behind don't forget that singing Slayer at the top of your lungs wherever you go is also paying tribute.

Ideas for Hessian activists:

  • Ask your local record store to help in the celebration by putting up posters/flyers (designs coming soon) and selling Slayer at a 10% discount
  • Remind your local metal DJs of this holiday
  • Contact your local newspaper calender department and remind them
  • Print up a stack of flyers for your local concert hall, record store, library and guitar center
