This album, despite what some people now claim to be cheesy, cliche "brutal/melodic" recombinance, was a natural and evolutionary melding of the styles.  Their demo shares some of the older, less melody rich songs with the album, to which a lot of the melodic influences seem to have been integrated.  If anything is to be avoided it is their second full-length for falling far too painfully into the traps "An Anatomy of the Beast" managed to avoid as a well-written, gracefully executed later period death metal album.
