I've been dabbling in meditation techniques, but I found Mr. Easwaran's passage meditation to be very effective so far.http://www.easwaran.org/page/101
So I've been meditating on this segment of Praise of Death ever since:
Stricken to live
Hell on Earth
Shackled and bound we lie
Praise of Death
Life's a dream
We're only living to die
(Repeat slowly, times infinity)
And it's been helping me focus on what needs to be done ever since, repeating it ad nauseam, at a slow pace, when I have time to kill, sitting idly. It echoes in my subconscious, and it has far-reaching implications. They're catchy, yet rich in meaning.
Try repeating the above, gently skimming across the implications of the passage, see for yourself whether it does anything for you.
Can we think of other great parts of lyrics to serve as mantras? Something else that's catchy, yet rich in meaning.
