Yes sir. The forum then was much more, "nu-metal" in it's lenience towards dumbass behavior. Once the gauntlet was dropped, a lot of those idiots left. There was much more traffic then too, which I can't say if is a good or bad thing.

One quote I remember was along the lines of "Don't get into Black Metal too much, it's ultimately just a dead end." I'm not sure I agree with it 100%, but I'm sure quite a few people here do.

That is true as well. It wasn't my intention to make it sound like the place completely sucked ass. There were many dumbassess, of course, but there were also many smart people who started great discussions. I learned a lot from those people, and I hope the opposite could be said as well.

This place can become the better part of what it was before...the only problem I see is the lack of traffic around here. Discussions often involve only a few people, and end without much being accomplished.

Maybe putting out flyers or more general internet trolling?

Promote the site by reaching out to others and emphasizing not its eliteness, but its capacity for fun, interesting, and intelligent discussion as well as Metal MP3s and porn.

You can do this, too. In fact, if every active member of this forum spent 30 minutes a week doing this, we'd be much bigger and so have the traffic you talk about us needing.

Back in 2007-2008 I was here as drgrowl. I later renamed, but soon stopped coming. I returned a few weeks ago. I remember those members, they might have committed honorary suicide.

I lurked for about..... 8 years. I remember prior to metalcore's explosive popularity, I stumbled upon At The Gates via P2P apps., not many sites had any relevant information regarding the band, this one did. Over time I've learned much from the site, and the user contribution's in the forums. I never took the elitist approach that many have labeled this site as, since an entire site can't be comprised of elitists and function without becoming so full of itself that everything is disregarded as opinion, and contain no insightful readings or member base. I felt that if I had so much in common with what everyone would say and stand for, why not be a part of it myself?

Forums make people addict through different rewards or virtual appointments. This forum was addictive in a sadomasochist fashion! I admit it, it was funny at times, how many of you can remember that epic thread: "what's wrong with Cradle of Filth?"

However I'm glad to see that the pwnage-point-system that was in the mind of a lot of posters has been substituted by smarter and more respectful discussions.

Of course, I'd like to see not precisely more people, but people from libertarian - left background discussing in a smart way here. I've invited some friends, but they didn't seem to care at the end.

I come back to this forum to see what is up with all these bands coming back together (e.g. Gorguts, Beherit) and within 2 topics, I see myself remembered by others here.

Thanks for the love, though I haven't trolled in a while.  I am unmotivated and apathetic these days; as humanity simply isn't worth the effort.

It's been so long, I don't remember. This account came into being after I somehow managed to forget the password AND the e-mail I used to sign up before this. That was a long time ago. I've been following this site in one way shape or form for about 8 years.

With the demise of the moron forum (and the Corrupt forum- is that archived anywhere?) whoever I once was is now lost.

I am pretty sure that Born for Banning is Conservationist. It was buckets_of_rain not AIDS, I think you mixed up that funny British teenager's name (which I think had the word AIDS in it) with buckets_of_rain. I also miss Iconoclast, he certainly made this place more lively.I think I first joined this site in 2003 perhaps. I didn't know anything about metal at the time so I am certainly glad I found this place. There were a number of people then who have either changed to new accounts or have stopped posting. I have not seen Cynical, Fieldmouse, Abaddon or Big Cock Beelzebub in awhile either.

I was last Light Emitting Diode but after being absent from the site for a couple of months I lost my password and so I come back with this old user. Making a new user was meant to be me turning over a new leaf but it looks like I made a mess of things. Let us hope my ego stays firmly where it belongs, in the grave.

I still talk to Sacraphobic on MSN regularly, but I don't think he intends to post any time soon.

Fieldmouse also stopped posting, at the time he said the forum was merely a recreation for him that was taking up too much time, or something similar.

Cynical pops up every now and then, I think I saw him post this week in fact. As did Iconoclast?
