There's seriously been some good post-2000 albums, I'd say.

Which ones did you have in mind?

Averse Sefira - Battle's Clarion
Ildjarn-Nidhogg - 2003

And...?

Low standards = low future for the genre.

It only comes to my mind ANTAEUS's  De principii evangelikum.

I agree, that is a top notch release, perhaps not as good as CYFAWS, but undoubtedly exceptional for it's genre.

Most are listed because they're strong spiritually/conceptually, rather than because they're groundbreaking. Some will argue that said albums aren't artistically valuable because of this, and I won't contest that.

Ad Hominem - Planet Zog: The End
Arkona - Zeta Reticuli
Astrofaes - Ancestor's Shadows
Blut Aus Nord - The Work Which Transforms God
Deathspell Omega - Si Monvmentvm Reqvires, Circvmspice
Drudkh - Forgotten Legends
Evil - Hate Spirit
Galgeras - Uwer Ter Ere
Graveland - The Fire of Awakening
Nachtfalke
Rehtaf Ruo - Boiled in Goat's Blood
Thallium - A Howling From A Thousand Years
The Shadow Order - Raise the Banners
Wolfnacht - Heidentum
Wyrd - Heathen

Immolation - Close to a World Below (hard to believe this is like 4-5 years old now, it was one of the last metal albums I bought, and one of the last I remember enjoying)

Graveland, Temnozor, Axis Of Advance, Dub Buk, Nokturnal Mortum, Krieg, Summoning, Bilskirnir, Blut Aus Nord.

There's others, but this is what comes to mind, for me, at least.

Atomizer are a great band from Oz. 'Death, Mutation, Disease, Annihilation' is a highly enjoyable album.

The rarely mentioned Reverend Kriss Hades solo album also warrants attention from those seeking something interesting and original.

The Thorns album I feel is also a step in the right direction.

I missed out on seeing Atomizer a while back, I was going to check them out, but things got in the way. I shall have to check them out.

Even the names of those bands (and albums) are rather dull, like life since I was a child and the world was full of wonder.

Effort is better spent on getting old works and observing constructive insect activity.
[Solo: parasitic flesh resection]
[Solo: matted fungus, spawn, eggs, bacteria, germs, mould and meat]

So you're basically rendering all these bands redundant without hearing them? Eh, your loss, in some cases at least.

Just about every single name there is totally cliched.
You are right, most are Norwegian, most of those bands probably write songs about Vikings too. Who said Black Metal isn't affected by trends.
As for good albums after 2000,

Absu - Tara, anyone?
