I don't see the problem with constantly revising and reconsidering things.  Plus there's new releases every week.  We shouldn't be afraid to admit when we got something wrong or we overlooked something - I know I do it all the time.

Commercialized, disputably overrated, way too much limelight and I hate hearing about them ALL of the time because there are better bands...

but the Impaled-Ghoul-Asunder-Wolves "lets play every type of underground metal" incest party even as corny staples pretty much laid a damn big dent in the historical slab of metal in which they can call their own doing.

The Blaspherian is a must.  I listened to it yesterday and what struck me is the PATIENCE!  The patience of the performers playing it and the melody, itself, is almost disturbing.  People shouldn't feel THAT comfortable playing that kind of music!

I spent the weekend listening to some of the albums mentioned in this thread and of the albums that I personally mentioned, I have it whittled down to the Blaspherian, Avzhia, Summoning, and Disma releases.

The problem is that:

(a) No one's posted in these threads for awhile
(b) No consensus was reached

Looking at this from a practical perspective, we should reach a consensus and then force these albums on the world: Note: consensus does not mean "everyone agrees." It means the wise elders reach an accord and filter out anything below a B+.

I would be hard pressed to add that to the list Conservationist has begun.

Conservationist: I would proabably disagree with a few of the album selections ie. Advent Parallax over Tetragramatical Astygmata. The latter seems tighter/ focused.

I'll agree here on the tightness part, but not the focus.

Advent Parallax was tighter than a virgin's vagina, and a swell followup to the Tetragrammatical Astygmata, but I don't think it trumps it in focus. Their junior effort (not counting the demo) was such a vast improvement from the already great Battle's Clarion. There's not a single song on that record that doesn't form a story in the way they compose those pieces.

Advent Parallax isn't really a far cry from that and the production is much better than anything that came before it, but Tetragrammatical Astygmata is definitely the superior in my mind. One of the great Metal releases that came from 2000-2010.

I love that Ceremonium CD, but I believe it was from 1998. So is that Incantation album.
