Bands for Maryland Deathfest 2011 announced

I was sold on Exhorder. Obviously. This will be EPIC.

current 2008 line-up: Kyle Thomas - Vocals, Vinnie Labella - Guitar, Jay Ceravolo - Guitar, Chris Nail - Drums

Can anyone see a difference? I can't!

50$ on most people seeing Cretin just because the singer got a sex change.

Those folks should go to West Hollywood or Soho...they'd lose their minds!!

Sadly, I fear you are right. I recall this confused individual playing with the remnants of Repulsion, if I remember right, last year actually - I had no earthly idea who it was(not Repulsion obviously), and cared even less, so I ultimately sat in the shade, took it all in at a safe distance, eyeballed the women and amused myself watching Watain stumble around drunk in the 85 degree heat and humidity.

Got to say, thus far I'm really lukewarm at best about the Fest lineup. Perhaps after the past two years I expect too much, or am just being premature in my lack of enthusiam - they usually deliver in the end.  This could have upped the ante considerably, but alas, it's not be apparently:

Yeah, its a shame about that. Though it doesn't seem Demilich is totally opposed to doing shows in the USA either, they just want to move on with their musical lives. Perhaps there is hope yet!

This just in:

What is this, amateurhourfest 2011? Missing last year was a bad move.

This line up is peppered with a few goodies, but I think it's safe to say Deathfest is going downhill from here on out.

Yeah, but really, what else can be done in terms of old school epic reunions/bands who never play the USA? It's something that has been brought to fruition in the past 3 years of the fest. Still, there are a good number of bands on that list that I'd love to see, and keep in mind they're not done announcing all of the bands yet.

The line-up(thus far) is pretty weak and nowhere near the quality of the past couple years. I'm thrilled to see Dead Congregation added - that's actually the first band announced I'm genuinely excited about!!  I saw Animosty era COC way back when - it was cool, but the whole hardcore thing hasn't aged well for me, so I'm not all that wound up about that.

Either way, it's a great weekend to pick up some cheap swag, a few CD's, drink a few beers and visit with old frineds.

Still hoping for a headline-quality announcement...Morbid Angel would do just fine!!!!

More news.

"3-Day passes are now on sale and will cover May 27th - May 29th. Click here for more information.

Due to our desire to include more bands than usual on the Thursday show, we've decided to expand the festival to 4 days instead of having a "pre-fest" on Thursday. Only the main room stage of Sonar will be in use for the Thursday portion of the festival.

You will be able to purchase a separate ticket for Thursday, May 26th once the billing for all 4 days is finalized. Individual day tickets for each day of the festival will go on sale once a list of bands is posted for each day.

We're in the middle of wrapping up some details with a few headliners and a handful of other awesome bands, so stay tuned for the next update.

For everyone's info, the pre-fest has been done away with. The fest is now 4 days.

Cathedral and Doom (crust band) got added, otherwise there aren't any more really interesting additions.

These are the highlights for me:

Quote
Thursday, May 26th

CATHEDRAL

Friday, May 27th

NEUROSIS

Saturday, May 28th

VOIVOD
EXHORDER
CIANIDE

Sunday, May 29th

CORONER
NUCLEAR ASSAULT

These alone would be worth the price of attending x21.

This concert is always fucking weak. You'll get kicked out for even just threatening to stomp someone. There is no tolerance for violence or anything cool there other than the usual shit you can get away with basically anywhere (drugs).

Never really had a problem with the drugs issue. Friends of mine coerced me to smoke right behind one of the merch tents. No one cared.

Do you fight a lot at shows? If so, why do that?
