Morta Skuld - Dying Remains

Morta Skuld - Dying Remains

I just listened to this yesterday, and yes it's been released a while ago, but I haven't heard much about it on this forum. I found the record to be a pretty interesting stab at riff structuring. Aesthetically, it seems to be derived from old Gorguts, Cannibal Corpse in some areas, and something else I can't put my finger on. From what I hear, the band uses heavy handed riffs, and then juxtaposes them with a moribund, but more atmospheric solo, before plunging back into the destruction once more. It's really satisfying death metal.

So, I ask the experienced members hear for opinions. I'm making some headway in metal listening, and feel that I am more qualified now to present my opinion.

I just listened to that video, indeed...extremely "satisfying".  I appreciate it!

I hear a lot of Slayer influence in this, as well as some Morbid Angel.  Not bad - I'll find a copy of the album to listen to.

I'm loving it myself, as well as the simple and efficient layout.  No stupid ads and excessive bloat.

Sounds like Obituary- almost enough to simply call this band a B version of Obituary- making this album a C at most.

Although i like some of the elements here i would recommend we all Listen to "Cause of Death" instead.

Hardly does this album drink solely from the well of Obituary. There were definite hints of Demigod at work melodically with this album. It's been a few months since I've had the pleasure to hear this one but I think they're an under appreciated gem.

As I listen to this classic again I am just at a loss why this isn't in the DLA.
