Title: anus.com top 15 death metal albums torrent!
Post by: fenrir on October 24, 2013, 09:01:59 AM
Even though this is not a list of my favorite pick of albums (I don't consider my favorite to be the best, they just  appeal to me), the list of best ever Death Metal albums has very well thought-out picks.   I decided to make a torrent to share the list of very relevant albums, albums many would consider masterpieces of the genre.

Do share around with friends and spread the link.
It is a pity that these albums are not known to people who might appreciate them.
I don't believe this to be piracy since most of the albums on this list are not even purchasable in most parts of the world.  (Try getting Massacra or Demilich...)

Cool stuff, great collection, will seed. The fact that it's a gig and a half gives me hope that the songs are 320 kbps. Yes?

Yes, I think most of it, if not all, is 320 kbps

Try to spread the word. Friends, forums, etc.
Let's take these great works out of obscurity.

Absolutely will share/seed once the download is done. Again, great collection and thanks. I buy a CD whenever I find an album I like but some of these are difficult to find (for a reasonable price) like Demilich and Morpheus Descends.

Same goes for me.  I really like buying physical copies.  WHEN I can get them.

By the way, the Black Metal one is coming soon, as soon as I can get my hands on Havohej's "Dethrone the Son of God".
Does anyone around here have the 320 kbps mp3s of this album?

My ISP blocks the original URL. If you can't reach it try this one:

Thanks for keeping it alive and spreading :D
Mission is being carried out.

Should I post the link to the Black Metal torrent here or create another thread?

Already own 'em all but I'll seed for a while, spread the word!

Also I suggest putting some anus.com texts/propaganda into future torrents like this.

Not relevant to the thread at all, but I once found a used copy of Nespithe selling for $75 at a local store. Fucking ridiculous.

Excellent torrent, will seed the living hell out of it.

Since the file hosting format in Audiofile is already very efficient, why not use torrents to host collections like this one, or perhaps even some essential live performance videos? I'll start putting something to that effect together.

I thought of that until after... don't know if i can modify the torrent contents or just make a new one, I'll look into it in a few hours.
I'll definitely do that for the Black Metal one.  Upload each album together with its anus.com review. And.. what else? the articles therein? links to the website? suggestions?

A recent discussion thread on which appreciation of this albums was touched has prompted me to want to want to start an album per album discussion on the albums on the list. In the listed order (just to have some order).  The fact that I think I do not completely understand the merit of some of the albums in that list makes me want to do this.
For example, I would remove Necrophobic's debut and insert Gorguts' FWtH, because I think the former one is a little more derivative (although probably not for its time) and FWtH although somewhat standard in form is an example of well-done long-phrase riffs, fluent songwriting and unique style.  I would remove Obituary's Cause of Death and insert Vader's De Profundis, because I think the latter has songs with more interesting structure and variation.

What do you guys think about the list itself? What is your personal take on the selection of albums there?
Would you care to start a discussion from top to bottom on the merits and reason for these albums to be on the list?

I would strongly disagree with that. The Necrophobic debut is a very strong, very musical album with excellent songs and the excellent melodicity Blackmoon (RIP sweet prince :( ) brings. Plus it functions as a very cohesive album. From Wisdom is a whole step down from that, it is at best an okay work, but compared to the rest of the stuff that was released around that time period it is really good. Sort of like taking Obscura and using it to make ordinary modern-ish metal.

Though I have to say I did ignore The Nocturnal Silence for a while because it sounded ordinary and generic, but those are all superficial aspects.
