Metal / Re: Is heavy metal 'rock'?

And I don't really see why we are concerned with what record stores file bands under. Most of them are decided by corporate guys that wear suits and ties and don't know the first thing about music anyway, other than how to sell it.

Eh, I gave up hope on them after the album that came after "Diabolical Conquest".

If I'm not mistaken, that album IS Infernal Storm

I've never heard that band but I know about them and I'll certainly check them out on tour. That's great news. In semi-related news I'll be seeing Metal Church tonight :D

No, but they were always one of "those bands" that never really did much new or spectacular. They play ok black/thrash but not much else can be said.

I think it's more commercial perhaps because they're in a big label now and they want to sell as many copies as possible.

That's absurd. They aren't on any "big label". Earache is doing their U.S. distribution but they are signed to Wicked World Productions. Granted they are owned by Earache but there are several other bands on WW like Exmortem Deathwitch Anata, Insision ect and those bands have not released anything remotely commercial(they do suck though)

It is a great album. I've heard it and it easily rivals Conjuration, but it still can't touch Deathcult.

They did in fact become mallcore later. You already have their best album but Schizophrenia and Bestial Devastation/Morbid Visions are also excellent. Arise is worth your money as well if you like the previous three albums.
Everything else is just wiggerfied jumpdafukkup mallcore.

  • Necromentia

I'm assuming you mean NecromAntia from Greece. If that's the band you're referring to they are unique and excellent black metal. They only use electric guitars for solos and the bass guitars(one 4-string and one 8-string) are the dominant instruments. I'd recommend all their material but Scarlet Evil Witching Black is my favorite.

What is everyone's take on 'Absu'?
I quite like them, especially their imagery and mythology, from the Barathrum VITRIOL era.

Good solid black/thrash
