Cannibal Ritual sticks in my mind as one of the most shockingly intense and disturbing songs I have ever heard. How do you all feel about this track? and the rest of the album?

You seem to be replying to something else?

If you're talking about the song by Impetigo, it rules; and so does the album haha.

I assume he's talking about the song off O Agios Pethane?

Listen to Crystal Logic at least. All their other albums are hit or miss with me. But I have super-high standards for heavy metal.

Metal / Is it accurate to say that...

...most people get into metal in their adolescent years? This was brought up in a metal thread on a classical music forum, and I wonder - does this mean anything? If the answer is a resounding no, I guess just delete this thread, lol.

Probably those plus Stravinsky. I'm sure more will come to me.

I agree. I think Saint-Saens is great but..."no way we lose him"? How about: no way we keep him unless we add Debussy and Ravel.

Good call on the harpsichord. This is sounding great!

You'll want to keep Mahler and Shostakovich since we're relating classical music to metal. Maybe scrap Saint-Saens, and I haven't heard Respighi or Scarlatti yet so I couldn't say. And should anyone in the serialism category be kept?

Maybe Trouble's debut.

All of the above mentioned plus Carbonized and Pathologist

Metal / Best metal releases of 2013 thus far?

I've been a little underwhelmed with what I've tried from the metal pool this year, but I haven't tried nearly everything that the DLA has posted. What releases are your favorites so far and what would you recommend spending time with? I've really enjoyed the new Centurian album and obviously the new MBV album but that's about it so far. Highly anticipating some new releases in April/May, but until then I'm wondering if I've missed something.

Audiofile / Impetigo

I like Funebrarum's debut a lot, but I don't see a ton of worth in their 2nd album...am I missing something? Seems like Incantation crossed with Swedeath that's a little too suffocating for listening.

Edit: This DOES sound better on good headphones than it did on my car speakers at least...

Aeternus comes to mind.

Comparison to Onward To Golgotha is just downright unfair. But it's not really far from Diabolical Conquest...aka a fun listen at times but nothing more really.

What, are Xasthur or Leviathan actually worthwhile? I always wrote off the entire DSBM scene besides Mutiilation for some reason.
