Metal / Heresiarch - Węlwulf EP
« on: April 05, 2014, 02:40:30 PM »
Just checked to see if it was on Youtube and someone has uploaded the full EP today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWgOsn7lMMg.

Less speed and more atmosphere on this one. Bleak as hell.

Avzhia - The Key of Throne

Am I the only one who thought In My Domains was a more profound album? It has a more mysterious feel to it and I find it to be a deeper experience than the previous album.

Also with the last two Avzhia albums I find that both of them have one track in particular that stands out a lot stronger than the rest. Anyone else get that?

Metal / Audiofile updates
« on: March 22, 2014, 04:18:28 PM »
I figured it'd be handy to have a thread to inform users of what's new in the Audiofile section especially when threads get modified and there's no "bump" effect.  You could also mention why you felt it was necessary to add the album and discuss.

Angel Witch - Really cool live album from this classic NWOBHM band. Great track selection.

Asphyx - All the good albums added.

Dawn - Slaughtersun added. Epic melodic metal. Songs feel a bit too stretched out in places but worth checking out.

Sammath - All albums added apart from the latest as we're avoiding recent releases in Audiofile (it's on Youtube though). The new one is excellent but all their albums have something to offer. Underrated band.

Godless Arrogance full album on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYIshmi45gk.

It's been up for a week so I don't think the band/label mind. Spread it round (faceplant etc.) if you like.

No but wouldn't mind hearing it myself. If anyone has it, please upload.

I have the Sinister History compilation which includes some early demos and early live tracks. Will probably upload it at some point.

This is definitely another brilliant Profanatica album. It might even be their best. The constant changing riffs and melody make it a really intense and interesting listen throughout. But I also find that it builds up to the last 3 tracks where things get really epic. In particular the ending riffs on the title track and "Water to Blood" are outstanding. As the melody develops, the atmosphere intensifies and each note has a really "crucial" sound that has me on the edge of my seat.

I think Audiofile should live,

Yes, I would appreciate if the Audiofile part is kept whatever the overall decision is as it serves its function and I'm sure more people will take advantage of it as the site grows.

Not sure if that Dawn album is holding up now. Some of it does seem way too repetitive. But I really enjoy the epic feeling of the last track. I think it's good for an occasional listen.

Don't miss out on the second Sacramentum album Coming of Chaos. This is another album that you can keep coming back to for years without it getting boring. It's a bit of a different style to the first album with more death metal and speed metal thrown in the mix but that was probably a good idea when you've already hit gold with your debut. Another A class album.

This album has already leaked: http://www.bunalti.com/?p=294725

Good start for 2014! Black/death metal with some serious balls.

I think the 'obvious' recommendation after one has listened to Sacramentum is usually Slaughtersun by Dawn, which plays around with much of the same style.

I recently gave Slaughtersun a listen after it was mentioned on the news section that this was the band's apex and it I'm really impressed with it. I always thought the first album was decent but I now have a lot more respect for this band after heaing this epic release. Not as good as Sacramentum but way better than Dissection in terms of melodic black metal.

No problem. Wasn't hard to find at all.

This album has been added to the Profanatica audiofile thread for those who enjoy filthy blasphemous metal.

I've only given it a couple of spins but it's certainly a hellish listen and another very creative album for the band. Liking it so far!

As a side note, the Burzum album isn't metal. So how can that be included?

Dead Can Dance and Lord Wind made it into last years best of because they were metal in spirit.
