Metal / Re: Is metal music bad for you?
« on: May 24, 2006, 06:28:05 PM »
A lot of metalheads drink a lot, refuse to do anything with their lives and act like general douchebags.  Yes, this is true among many sorts of people, but since 'metal' for some reason is the favourite genre of social rejects after industrial, it is especially prevalent.
I don't think it's the music...I think it is dumbasses who want to scare people because they're too intellectually and physically weak to actually do something impressive or independent.

Metal / Re: How do you listen to music?

I have two ways of listening to music.  One is when I am really enjoying an album, where I am paying attention to little else (maybe playing Solitaire) and the second is where I am enjoying the music but not really giving it my full attention (this happens a lot since I listen to music all day).  I find that black metal is excellent for the second form of listening, since lyrics are often impossible (and not neccesarily meant to be) understood, which makes the song easier on my consciece mind.

Metal / Technical Black Metal?
« on: May 24, 2006, 02:27:39 PM »
Is there such a thing as technical black metal?  I know BM isn't generally seen as a 'technical' genre, but I don't see any reason why this isn't at least theoretically possible.  The closest I have found in my searches is Unlord, which is only technical in the sense that the music is very tight (Ie, not as sloppily played/timed as a lot of BM) and very fast at the same time.
