Justin Bieber is more popular than Summoning. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

In the absence of external meaning, we have to generate our own meaning(s) in life.  Nihilism leads to Existentialism or Fatalism - take your pick.

I derive meaning externally. Does that mean I'm a fatalist, or just not actually a nihilist?

Probably both. But I liek burmsuzm so it's ok.

Let's put this very simply: we are better than most, because we are more aware (thanks, intelligence!).  If you cut out the bottom half of a group, the average rises: humanity will necessarily be better if we remove the under 120s.  This is just a fact, not something you can have an "opinion" about.  To all of the people who said "no" to this question, you were answering the wrong question.

Well, I think the average IQ would probably rise.*

Whether humanity will be "better"? You'd need to walk through that one a bit slower.

Probably some balance is key, and given evolution, maybe we're basically at it.

Things do appear to be quite unstable though.

*actually this isn't technically possible, given how average IQ is defined, but whatever fuck u all

Are you saying we have -only- suffering in this eternal life?

My impression was that suffering is worthwhile for the benefit it brings, but if there's not benefit, just an eternity of suffering, then fuck it I'll die.

Though I'm taking the question too literally and not recognising its existential meaning.

Choose life for the only thing certain is death etc etc

I've never taken an IQ test, but I found a site that matches your SAT score with different IQ scores and it came up that I have an IQ score of 111. My question here is, why do you want me to die?

I'm not dumb. My teachers always have said I'm a good writer. I'm just really bad with math and shit. I love reading, but I must admit, I probably play videogames more than I read.

I love life, and I know I have something to give back to the world, no matter what you guys say. I walk dogs for a local animal shelter and am an all-around a nice guy.

Not that I'm concerned I'll be the victim of your idiocide. Good luck convincing all those +120s to kill their friends and family.

I come here for smart discussion with fellow metalheads, but honestly, what the fuck is up with this genocide shit?

it's save-the-trees stuff taken to the eXtreme. exercising freedom of speech or something.

Follow what you're good at. Achieve your potential. Contribute all you can. etc etc etc

it's just a number

Though, of course, I live day to day as if this physical reality were real.  It's more fun that way : )

What are our alternatives?

I'm not sure if I've realised yet that I'm going to die.

The deaths of those close to me (or even just the thought thereof) causes me a great deal of anguish though from time to time.

Should I feel bad for liking Depeche Mode? It's not as bad as liking Lady Gaga, I guess.

They're both pretty cool.

I don't think you should feel bad about liking something just because other people disapprove.

even [strong] atheism (which is a religion; agnosticism is not, it's a position)

Is religion positive (where I shall venture), while a position is negative (where I shall not venture)?

Dawkins very briefly mentioned that quantum research is one of those things that makes him a little bit uncertain.

don't know why a scientific research should do anything to any philosophy/religion.

You wouldn't logically think so, but it happens doesn't it? (or is that just correlation?). Everything is connected in the mind.
