Metal / Re: Cannibal Corpse a ripoff?
« on: March 21, 2007, 07:55:37 AM »
since this is now the pants vs the exhorder thread.so there :

the exhorder debut pisses on most angry metal of that time from a great hieght..deserator !!!!! \m/.......

what the pants had was the slower less angry more wierd sounding grrove and the angular riffing.........like old metallica covering gang of four with NYHC vox....(expecially circa far beyond driven )

by the way., whats the most pissed off angry tharsh ever recorded.......if something comes close to Slaughter in the Vatican, i gotta know :)

i still agree with the orginal poster that its more difficult to play the organic morphing powerful yet individualistic music that most good metal bands do put out.....................

i listen to a lotta eastren classical (indian and paksitani) and its closer to the this morphing idleogy that whci connnects your mind to your heart to your luings to your fingers to your soul ........

good music dont need transcribing

and as for the precision of classical players ...its a disciplinary excercise like the army..practice makes perfect..but gimme soul and feel and  and a morphing primal rhtym over pompous discilinary excercises...its alos the reason why the solos sound like the bets thing in a symphony since its a like a bird trying to soar outta cage

Big Black vs Beethoven ///

no contest

Cannibal Corpse, Cradle of Filth, Pantera and Death ???????????????

what????

in order of talent and introducing / adding / morphing something in the metal genre as a whole

Death (Human and Individual Thought Patterns had some stuff that i had never before heard in detah metal, as in orginal) - Yessss  i was a big fan of Atheist and Cynic so ...

Pantera - Cowboys and Strength all have orginal heavy moments, (taking the guitar sound strange heavy places and some angry songs) though lack consistency

Cradle of Filth - Principles and Dusk (original and hilarious english take on BM)

Cannibal Corpse - ??????-i cant think of one album that added something to the genre, except  medicority
as the ageless_stranger said :
"Their music is blank and hollow, so the standard argument used is that they are a hollow imitation of death metal.  They essentially created "generic death metal."

Metal / Re: Classical/metal and rock are different worlds
« on: November 10, 2006, 02:10:48 AM »
i have been hearing about how awesome western classical is, and how BM/DM etc reflects similar structures.........but except for a few pieces, it sounds horribley "tea and scones" type crap

sometimes it sounds majestic, haunting etc but then the guitars dont kik in and it ends up being a disspointment......plus most of it aint dark enough...........

can someone suggest some seriously dark and heavy classical works  ?

I would suggest some eastern classical music for the uninitiated people to understand how music can be so moody epic and yet organic.......

the traditions are handed down generation to generation, and themes are expanded upon extempore,...but it is still very different from folk.....ie it is more intelligent...epic...complex...and oes not at allbeleive in transcribing if someone is interested i can upload.........

strange how the good, better best set forgot to mention important vital intelligent metal like Cynic, Atheist, Spastic Ink, Psychotic Waltz, later day Solitude Aeturnus, Vehemence, Gorguts, Red Harvest, mid period Morgoth, Meshuggah (first 3-4 albums and then it was a one trick pony), Gordian Knot, ........

and just putting on corpse paint brings your iq down by 20 points so there............Burzum i can understand as it is truly inhuman and lamost celestial...but immortal and graveland on the best ever inetlligent metal list ?!!!........alas, it is true, BM has taken over the forum

Metal / Re: Criticism of this Metal Site

pros:

choice fuking metal from around the world.and gives the respect that thrash and 90's DM deserve and should command

cons:

like the man said, rudeness to newbies....i can persnonaaly testify to this.....just coz i was new to the site dont mean i am new to metal.so stick your elitist head outta your ANUS and smell the air...

beleif in the total uselessness of post-200 metal (while this is mostly true, only a metal elitist would make it a sweeping generalization)

Society's decay ---agreed
materialist/ capiltalist causes -- agreed
heavy metal culture dead - NO WAY !!!!

yeah its harder to find real metal heads now.....and all our cultural ietms are now a fad.........but the fact remains............there's some real fukin brillinat young metal kids out there (as musicians and conossiuers)...its just that they are ususlaly outnumbered hundred to one by the mall/chain wallet /core crowd......

plus what of the old school guard (which i guess includes you....mr. rwja..but i dunno u ....and me) who were a part of a rather different scene from the late eighties to late 90's............

so there is hope

you were right quick on that...o Hessian

yeah...these mind altering substances are soo bad...and you are straight edger hessian (i didnt even know there was such a thing)...dude each to his own poison.....

dude, i got into metal beacuse it clicked on a level nothing else ever did..........

and you can go all "aheemm...haw..humm" and snobbish but the fact remains...
the pedestrian hobbies and cultural aspects of metal that i have so naively and honestlt listed are very much a reality

maybe you have transcended all this but i havent and niether have my heroes.........
for eg: 80 -90 % of the musicians that actually make the music you are usually orgasming over

i'd rather have metal as a part of the ordinary man's culture  then as a part of a arsitrocratic culture (we already have western classical to cater to that particular anus)

if someone had said "speed" instaed of power, the list would have been much bigger

Cephalic Carnage
Dillinger Ecsape Plan

power's papa, speed metal kiks its ass from here to mars........

and aptly enough (given the converstaion above) all syphony x, rhpasody, freedom call , stratovarious and hammerfall make me feel is pure fukin HATE.,................AAAAAAARGGGGGGGGHHHH.......Kill these souless wankers with their mach 3 skill precision, crystalline production and ridi-fukin-culous choruses.......just as bad as fuzzy scuzzy guitars, tape hisss, tin can blasts, and KVLT

on the other hand power's heavier half has laid claim to some mighty bands :

Power Metal era Pantera

Nevermore

Kamelot

can someone name others

Metal Culture :

generally extremist

psychologically damaged( with refusal to admit)

interest in other fringe subjests / arts

drugs (primarily alcohol, with marijuana a close second, followed by heroin. coke, speed , k, etc)

violence

occultism

bravery and honesty (you can almost hear the power metal choruses with this)

and other stuff : beer, sex, satan, militray history, cultures, magic, alternative lifestyles, racism, nationalism, fast rough cars, blah blah blah

not to mention : egos. elitist point of views
and anal retentive attention to metal detail
;D

WELL im a metal-head and an academic and a msucician ......but the metal comes first.....its great studying it as a sub-culture or genre...............but in the end its about the music ,....and not those farty humm comments usually thrown about by rveeiwers at ANUS............

man.....at least the real metal-heads act like people..............you know men=male, women=-female and so on..............

and as far as the gay thang goes.........it is definitelt a part of sub-cultures and to an extent a part of the rock movement .............androgynous looks were some of the more shocking aspects of 70's glam rock ..............

in my country, "gay" is person who gets fukced up the ass..................and the one doing the fukin is a normie :)

the revolution is being televised...and sold at amazon et al.

i guess the best bands in these times are those that can bite the hand that feeds and breeds....undermine the sytem fomr the inside..get corporate jobs and then start dismantling the machine....if you are not broken down first....
