The ongoing tragedy of Burzum is that people pay more attention to him than his music. They'd rather obsess like fangirls over his hair, his clothes, his personal life and his drama than they would pay attention to the music and what it tells them.

That's why he is sick of them all.

I don't think so that much, and less being 2008.

The origin of the thread is a legitime speculation that concerns obviously the music, that was not self-created and therefore could have been perhaps different considering  it's author circumstances.

And judging by what he anwers in the interview of 10-05-05 by Chris Mitchell, he knows the final recording:

"The "Filosofem" ("Philosofem") album: this album contains the first real Burzum track, titled "Dunkelheit" on the album (but the real title of the track is "Burzum". "Dunkelheit" is just the German translation of "Burzum"), that I originally wanted to include on the "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss" album (but the recording was very poor, so I didn't use it). I changed the name to Burzum from Uruk-Hai when I made this song (I think in August 1991). The album is a bit weird, and far from perfect, but it is okay. Unfortunately (?), this is the album that sounds the most like the new Burzum music. "

Also, the album was recorded in March, not being Varg arrested until August, so...

Varg sounds like he's afraid of stepping out of prison a celebrity, being followed around by the paparazzi and is taking precautionary measures so as to not ruin the rest of his free life.

I agree with this. He could even be afraid of stepping out of prison in any condition, afraid of just to be out. In that sense that retirement to farm life, although according with his sensibility, looks like a self quarantine.

Ah okay.  Maybe I should stop reading metalarchives :-/

Metalarchives says what it was supposed always to be: a drawing by Janicke Wise-Hansen, like in the Burzum album.

Going to the mall certainly means you're part of the problem.

Solution: a bullet in the head.

I find that statement frivolous, specially coming from you.

The only proven dumbass is the killer.

According with news in .org, this is being edited now. A short video of Varg from the documentary can be seen also.

Soul of a Vagabond

Pack on my back I wander
Over mountains across the seas
My yearning soul keeps roaming
In the endless search for peace

Sky is my roof, my shelter
Stars shine and light my way
Earth is my bed, my altar
On this road that leads to nowhere

In silence I scream but no one listens to me
Absolution, salvation, my sins won't leave me be
The first cry, the last breath
We are born to die
This madness neverending
Don't know the reason why
Soul of a vagabond
Illusion, delusion, we are born to live
Temptation, damnation, starvation, deformation

The road goes on forever
It's an old and trustworthy friend
I have tasted its dust and treasures
By my twisted mind won't mend

My burden is heavy to carry
My destiny lies ahead
My spirit is always leaving
For this road that leads to nowhere...

In silence I scream but no one listens to me
Absolution, salvation, my sins won't leave me be
The first cry, the last breath
We are born to die
This madness neverending
Don't know the reason why
Soul of a vagabond
Illusion, delusion, we are born to live
Temptation, damnation, starvation, deformation

In silence I scream but no one listens to me
Absolution, salvation, my sins won't leave me be
The first cry, the last breath
We are born to die
This madness neverending
Don't know the reason why

Illusion, delusion, we are born to live
Temptation, damnation, starvation, deformation
In silence I scream but no one listens to me
(Soul of a vagabond)

I have one Stratovarius album, Dreamspace, their third  full length from 1994, and it has not been out of its case for several years. I knew there was a reason for this, but reading this thread I decided to give it a try, and I could'nt stand beyond the track six out of 14 contained in the CD: it's cheesy, generic, highly unoriginal and boring, pretty boring. Not at all an exciting listening experience from any point of view. If all their albums are like this one, then I can't find a reason why anyone of you, obviously interested in much more interesting metal bands, would loose time with this crap. I prefer some current pop hits.

...conflict due to the dissimilarity of their roman (aryan) and latin (mediterran) origins.

I think everyone understand what you mean but is poorly expressed IMO, being Latin the roman languaje. The first and main meaning of the world latin is precisely to refer to all that is roman or heavily influenced by roman culture and is a word akin to your own nick.  You shouldn't use "latin" as opossed to "roman" in that binomial and you should have chosen another word in support of "mediterranean".

Also, the roman-aryan origins of italians are mediterranean origins too, as far as I know: I don't reach to see how aryan is opossed to mediterranean specifically in the case of romans.

I gave it my first 2 listens last night and at this point I'm in the pro-intro group: I find it amazing.

I can't dissect this demo from the musician point of view, but I think it's pretty good.

You mean "a nation-state."

http://www.pan-nationalism.org/

Yes, I do, because it's sure Marc means "state" in his post: If Marc really didn't  mean "unrecognized" as a state, then what is not is "unrecognized", as Catalonia has self government since many years ago, the catalonian language is the official language there with Spanish, they have their own police, etc... pretty far from being "unrecognized". The only thing Catalonia hasn't recognized nowadays is, precisely, to be a state.

where are the Hoffman brothers , in which band

According with http://www.metal-archives.com/ (AKA m3tal archives) "On November 25th, 2004 Glen Benton officially stated that the Hoffman brothers would no longer be in the band due to them cancelling and walking off many shows among other personal issues. Since then, the Hoffman brothers haven't started a new band."

I guess they're not playing in any band, otherwise it would be mentioned.

I am from Catalonia (a nowadays unrecognized nation, situated at the north-east of Spain, just at the south of the Pyrinees mountains).

Pretty funny, considering Catalonia has NEVER been a nation.
