I enjoy most of this band's output. "Goat Horns" itself is quite good (I'm not calling it another ITNE or PH), blending folkish and symphonic elements together, drenched in a rather ethereal atmosphere.

"NeChrist" was the one that got me into them though, and fuck, did it take a lot of listens for me to appreciate it! I definitely believe they're still going strong with "Weltanschauung."

They have a very unique style of composition; similar bands like Lucifugum, Kataxu and Kroda are tedious, schmaltzy, and overall, fucking horrible.

Ideology and history affect music much moreso than "dressing the part." Metal needs a wakeup call. What would Wolves In The Throne Room say if you asked them to put their lives on the line and burn churches?

Music is a projection of its creators' lifeforce.

I still say that seeking out good metal (regardless of vintage) and focusing on enjoying it rather than bemoaning everything is still a better way to go. Like I said, we've got almost 30 years of good stuff- that should be sufficient for everyone. Hell, Hitler became immortal in less time than that.

Sure, we could just say we had a good thirty years of Metal, seek out the classics and celebrate them, but why stop there? This is giving up. There could be so much more out there, surpassing even bands like BURZUM. The right people need to be inspired by the right music, and we could truly have a whole new era of brilliant Metal.

The problem is most Black Metal fans can't honestly tell why Burzum, Darkthrone and Immortal are better than Forgotten Tomb, Craft and Wolves In The Throne Room. Talented musicians who could be making interesting music are headed down the wrong path because they're stuck on trends [e.g. RAW KVLT GRIM, open-minded, indie rock-inspired, shoegaze Black Metal], rather than attempting to create something truly original.

If your little taco club meetings aren't working for you (i.e. "CHANGING AND REMAKING SOCIETY"), maybe you should try something different.

Fight the hipsters in all forms. You want us all to fail so you feel that giving up is the proven right path, don't you?

You coward.

^Haha, even the mighty Prozak wields the logical capabilities of a butthurt, indignant fourteen-year old when something doesn't go his way?

Never once did I say "giving up" was an option. Expand your mind a bit more, you narrow-minded burnout. Or let your own insecurities consume you.

LOL, brilliant! Can I have a turn?

Your attitude is bitter, whiny and reminiscent of a sore loser. If your little taco club meetings aren't working for you (i.e. "CHANGING AND REMAKING SOCIETY"), maybe you should try something different.

It sounds like you're upset all your plans with CORRUPT have never amounted to anything tangible and your regurgitated diatribes are ubiquitously ignored by the hipster forums.

CORRUPT was a great site. So you're not getting enough/the right kind of participants; so you put your tail between your legs, take it down and whine about how TEH HIPSTERES HAV INVADED THE HOLY ANUS111!!!111!!!!1111 I thought this place had a eugenic posting policy.

What goal? This society is going to crumble regardless of what "just a few" smart kids on the Internet can concoct on their own. The forum was a good source of IDEAS. As is any forum. Start a fucking ANUS.com bootcamp if you want change.

Supernal is notorious for listing many albums they don't carry. Be cautious with them.

It makes perfect sense because "Filosofem" is the epitome of Romanticist spirit in metal.

Lol, can you prove this?

I'd say 1995 since that was the year most of the second-wave progenitors started backing off Black Metal and either starting out the "avant-garde" route or dumbing down their aesthetics with rock/Heavy Metal.

One fucking album means nothing. Especially one that was written three years before its release.

Not that different from Burzum's last played on live instruments.

Yep, reminded me of Hlidskjalf as well.

More classic bands should be doing stuff like this. Reminds me of when Slayer played the entirety of Reign In Blood.

Nåstrond: I've only heard the second demo, but it seems to be above average BM in the early Swedish style. Dark, noisy and melodic.

Krohm - A World Through Dead Eyes: Infester's drummer's solo project. Elevator Black Metal [E.B.M.]: it has a nice, mournful atmosphere, but two minutes of listening is all it takes to realize this shit doesn't lead anywhere. No drive or meaningful motivation. A lot like Xasthur and most modern U.S.E.M.O., Krohm simply wants to be part of something it isn't artistically capable of.

Eucharist - A Velvet Creation: Very well-done highly melodic Death Metal in the Sunlight Studios style. Riffs sound very warm and remind me of ATG.

I Shalt Become: Hypnotic Black Metal that seems to run quite parallel to Burzum's formula, although songs are much more spaced-out and dreamy. The newest album sounds a bit tedious to me after extensive listening. I now doubt he can top Wanderings.

Gontyna Kry - Welowie: Really unique melodic, melancholic Black Metal from Poland. While the album's very short, its high quality more than makes up for it.

Deathspell Omega - Si Monumentum Requires, Circumday laborere: In a word, pretentious. This album tacks on a supposedly sublime religious theme, but comes nowhere near achieving what it seems to want to do: expand modern BM to brilliant unforeseen sonic territories. Songs meander and go back and forth between useless ideas without any meaningful melodic or thematic development, rendering the promising vision of these Frenchmen a tantalizing pipe dream at best.

Apparently the "eugenic posting policy" is a bit arbitrary here.
