Black Vomit?
Crux Dissimulata?
Dissenter (POL)
Eradication (FR)
Impure (DE)
Nex (SWE)
Nominon (SWE)

Judging by the album that is rated the highest on MA (har har), Angantyr is bad. Utterly predictable boring bedroom black metal, waste of time. No idea about the rest.

These kinds of surveys and news articles never actually treat metal with any respect. They commend it as being favored by bright students, sure, but they praise it for its therapeutic qualities and as an aid for anger/stress relief, rather than acknowledging that it is in fact a form of art. (Never mind the fact that all they think of when they hear the term "metal" is Slipknot, Tool, and whatever other rock garbage that's topping the charts these days.)

I've seen many actual metal musicians express this kind of sentiment as well, usually seemingly in a way to try and "justify" the angry/violent sound of their music, willingly lowering the meaning of their music to it being merely something you put on after you come home from a long day at work so you can get all your frustrations out in a way that won't bother anyone else, and are ready for another day of mindless labor in your cubicle. See? It's totally harmless!

Is that Satyricon? I wouldn't be surprised if this is their latest endeavor.

It's a fictional band a la Dethklok gone black metal.

Perhaps this thread would be a good place to ask something that's been bothering me a while. In the song Ritual of Infitity by Morpheus Descends, the part from about 27 to 54 seconds into the song sounds extremely familiar to something I've heard before, but I can't put my finger on it. Is this just all in my head?

creating visual art

What sort of visual art are you talking here? Design type imagery, or actual illustrations? The latter I would be interested in helping with, the former I'm not so good at.

Looks like Gaahl and King ov Hell won the rights to the name, unsurprisingly. Although part of me did expect them to side with the one and only founding member left.

The only name I can remember of the different medicine they used to make me take as a kid apart from Prozac was Celexa (citalopram), the last kind I ever took. The side-effects that a wide range of antidepressants/antipsychotics and the like left on me range mainly from overall lacklusterness and memory loss to severe loss of libido. Probably not as bad, although the latter can be (and has been) a major pain in the ass.

I enjoyed this release. I'm on about my third listen of it so far. It has a very hypnotic quality to it, which is something I often hear people say about black metal, yet I rarely really get that feeling when actually listening to it, and it's something the songs on this release acchieve quite well. And although the instrumental songs hold their own without vocals, I do hope to hear some more vocal work on a possible next release.

Very nicely done.

Marduk's Rom 5:12

Two excellent black metal releases from this year.

let's ask david icke what his opinion is.

I think he would disagree on the basis that his cold blooded lizard-men wouldn't be able to survive in cold climates  :-* . We are still talking about the possibility of aliens landing in scandinavia with their spaceships, proceeding to sail around in wooden viking seaships and inadvertently inventing black metal, right? God this thread is dire.
