Metal / Re: Title this thread

I thought that Morbid Angel's "Heretic" and Napalm Death's "Enemies of the Music Business" were quite good. I listen to them both pretty regularly.
I don't think that Morbid Angels lyrics could ever lose relevance, as they aren't really relevant to anything at all - and the musical integrity is still there. (In my opinion)
However, I must admit, I wasn't entirely convinced by the title track of "Enemies", unless someone explains it, I don't get how a commercial band could not be helping the music industry.

Bohren und der Club of Gore.

I read a description of thier music in a street magazine, and got one of their albums, "Gore Motel".
I think they're pretty amazing, but I've never heard anyone else's opinion.

Metal / Re: Christian Black Metal?

Recently I was on a train, and reading over the shoulder of a man sitting next to me. He was reading a book on how rock music was inappropriate for Christians to listen to, purely for its aesthetics, even if with Christian lyrics.
The idea that someone would be so Christian that they'd want to create a band preaching to everyone - but then creating a black metal band - seems ludicrous in the extreme.

I wonder why they do it. The only possible explanations I've come up with are that they either wish to achieve a "cool" factor they assosciate with black metal, or they are making a concious effort to convert black metallers. The latter of which I'd find hard to believe.

It would be interesting/funny to read an interview with one of these bands. I've certainly never heard any of their music, or of any of the artists, only that they exist.
