Harkonin are pleased to announce that they have agreed to a multi-album deal with Australia's Battlegod Productions. "We are proud to share a label with such bands as Dark Order, Saxorior, Buio Omega, and of course Baltak", says drummer Clayton Gore. "We couldn't be more excited. After numerous discussions, it's clear that we share the same outlook and goals for the band. The support Battlegod has already shown us is tremendous and we look forward to an excellent relationship." The band's self-released 2006 recording "Ghanima" will be released by Battlegod soon and a new follow-up album by early 2009.

Metal / Eulogy - new album '08
« on: August 10, 2007, 08:05:34 AM »
After a long hiatus, founding memeber Jarrett Pritchard has invoked the core trio of Tampa's now legendary death metal outfit EULOGY. Rejoined by Jason Avery, who spent many years fronting MONSTROSITY and drummer Clayton Gore of St. Louis' HARKONIN, the band is set to record a new album beginning on September 6 in Orlando with Jarrett at the controls.

Commented Jarrett: "At this point I have completed eight songs for the record and it promises not to dissapoint. On bass we have enlisted Mike Pogionne of MONSTROSITY/LECHURUS NOCTURNE and at this time second guitar duties will be filled by none other than longtime friend Rob Barrett (CANNIBAL CORPSE, HATE PLOW, MALEVOLENT CREATION, SOLSTICE). At this point we have not approached any labels about the release and we intend to have the cap on it December 15, 2007 for an early 2008 release."

A promo video featuring fragments of new riffs in demo form can be found at this location.

As previously reported, ROTTING CHRIST recorded their two live shows in Larissa, Greece for an upcoming live album. The pioneers of the Greek metal scene put on two special two-hour shows featuring songs covering their entire catalog. These live shows were held on February 3-4, 2006 at Blive Music House in Larissa, and were the only concerts to be recorded for the upcoming CD. The shows marked the band's 18 years in the metal scene and fans from around the world were in attendance. The band also played a very special concert consisting exclusively of material from their first three albums — "Passage To Arcturo" (1989), "Thy Mighty Contract" (1992) and "Non Serviam" (1994) - on January 14 at An Club in Athens, Greece.

ROTTING CHRIST's "Passage To Arcturo" and "Non Serviam" albums were reissued in January with bonus audio and video tracks via Season of Mist.

DARKTHRONE - New 7" Single Limited To 2,000 Copies; Available Exclusively Online

Posted on Wednesday, October 04, 2006 at 10:04:38

Snapper Music (www.snappermusic.com) has issued the following details for the new DARKTHRONE single., 'Forebyggende Krig':

Numbered Ltd/Edition 7" vinyl, Ltd. to 2,000 copies - Online Exclusive! Not available anywhere else.

Coming up to 20 years of existence and with 12 albums behind them, one of the early originators and still leaders of the Norwegian black metal scene Darkthrone release a limited 7” vinyl single in the shape of ‘Forebyggende Krig’ and show that it is still done their way or no way.

The single features the title track on side A, which is lifted from their latest masterpiece, The Cult Is Alive with its CELTIC FROST-ish blend of ingenious structure and riffs.

Uncompromising and unpredictable as Darkthrone always are, on side B there is a completely exclusive track (and perhaps an unexpected one) in the shape of the cover-song 'Bad Attitude', which was originally by little-known American punk rockers TESTORS, and was recorded in the late-70’s.

The vocals on ‘Bad Attitude’ are handled by Fenriz, with backing vocals carried out by Nocturno Culto.

The ‘Forebyggende Krig’ 7” is an online exclusive. It is a numbered Limited Edition 7" vinyl and there are only 2,000 copies, making this an essential collector’s item.

This product is available to pre-order and will be shipped from November 23rd, 2006

Please note that your payment will be processed upon receipt of order.

Any other items ordered at the same time will not be despatched until November 23rd, 2006.

It's Official - CYNIC Reunite!
Posted on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 17:10:45

BW&BK has received the following press release:

Long-defunct Florida-based band CYNIC, whose 1993 album Focus is regarded as a landmark release in the field of technical/progressive metal, have announced plans to embark a reunion tour in the spring/summer of 2007, beginning with possible U.S. warm-up performances and culminating in a number of festival appearances across Europe.

The reunion lineup is as follows: Paul Masvidal - vocals/guitar, Sean Reinert - drums/keys, Tony Teegarden - vocals/ keyboards, Chris Kringel - bass, Santiago Dobles – guitar

Kringel, who replaces Sean Malone (who can't participate in the reunion because of teaching and work commitments) in Cynic's reunion lineup, has been involved with the band since the pre-Focus days and toured with the band in Europe in support of the CD. He also played bass on the classic and much-sought-after PORTAL demos and toured the UK with Paul and Sean's AEON SPOKE project. Teegarden also previously toured with Cynic in support of Focus, while Santiago — who is said to be "the man behind AGHORA" — has been around the Cynic camp since 1993-94 and was one of Masvidal's guitar students in Miami back in the day.

According to Masvidal, guitarist Jason Gobel was approached about participating in the reunion, but was forced to turn it down due to family and work commitments. However, he gave the rest of the group his blessings to proceed and is said to be "honored" to have Santiago as his replacement.

For more information on the Cynic reunion, visit the official web site at www.cynicalsphere.com. Booking, press and questions should be addressed to: cynicreunion@aeonspoke.com.

Former GODFLESH Frontman To Release New JESU Album In February

Justin Broadrick — former member of two legendary bands: NAPALM DEATH and GODFLESH; currently in JESU — has issued the following update:

"The new JESU album, recently titled 'Conqueror' [view artwork at this location], is currently at the end of the mixing stage and is about to be mastered. There are eight songs on 'Conqueror', with a running time of just over 60 minutes. Planned for a February 2007 release on Hydra Head, a U.S tour will coincide with the release, shortly followed by tours of Japan and Europe. More details as they come through...

"Other JESU releases are also on the horizon: Aurora Borealis will be releasing a limited-edition 12" vinyl only EP featuring two new experimental JESU compositions entitled 'Sun Down' b/w 'Sun Rise', each song is approximately 18 minutes in length. Both songs feature Justin and Diarmuid only. This is mixed, mastered and with the label. Release date TBA.

"Currently being mixed is a limited edition split 12" vinyl EP with ELUVIUM. This release is a joint venture between Hydra Head and Temporary Residence, with 2,000 copies being issued by each label. This features thre new JESU compositions, recorded by Justin only. Release date TBA.

"Justin has recently had remixes released of KNUT, 5IVE and AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED. He is currently finishing a dub remix for Ted Parson's involved project N.I.C for their upcoming dub album. Details are also currently being solidified for Justin remixing EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY. More news soon...

"In other news there is a new Justin-instigated band project — GREY MACHINE. The first album is currently in fruition. Many of Justin's old cohorts are involved in what will be a floating line up; Dave Cochrane, a co-conspirator of Justin's [together in HEAD OF DAVID and SWEET TOOTH] is soon to be recording his bass parts. Expect something vicious, loose, heavy and psychedelic. More news very soon....

"Justin has been invited to join SUNN0))) as a member of the group on their upcoming October 2006 U.K and Ireland tour. Yet again details TBA very soon...

"Justin recently mixed and produced the PELICAN London live show at the Scala from December 2005 from what is to be both a DVD and a limited double vinyl set. Release TBA. Justin will now also be mixing and producing an ISIS one-off performance of 'Oceanic' in its entirety, performed in London as part of the ATP festival in July 2006. This is to be a DVD release with other formats TBA. Justin [with Diarmuid] as FINAL opened for ISIS at this event, he also guested on guitar with ISIS on the song 'Weight'."

I'm very saddened to inform you guys that
Rich (Grand Belial's Key/Vinland Winds) has apparently died,

Not too many details are known right now, but J
talked to P tonight, and all that seems to be
known is that his body was found in Manhattan
somewhere this past sunday, and it hasn't been
released to the family yet, so I guess the cause of
death isn't known yet.
the funeral will be in Delaware where his family lives
but no idea when right now...

This is the message from his family:

"We are very sad to tell you that deeply loved Richard Mills has passed away. We are crushed. And, we know all of his friends will be too. Losing Richard will leave a hole in our lives.

We are trying to contact anyone who was with him on Saterday night, the night he died. I said sunday but it was saterday night.

If you have any information .. friends, band members, phone numbers or emails, that would be very helpful. "

Metal / Cannibal Corpse banned in Australia
« on: July 18, 2006, 08:20:26 AM »
i'm sure you've all read about this shit.  seems like every other year AUS bans some metal band and some politicians get their 15 minutes leeching off metal.  anyway, "...Australian comedy team The Chaser recently paid tribute to the death metal act by performing their own version of CC's "Rancid Amputation" on national TV."

as one blabberdouche put it:  "Is the guy in the video clip has hit the nail on the head. The censorship is NOT about the lyrics, it IS about the music. If it really was about the lyrics, then how the hell would this guy get away with reciting them on Australian national television? The answer of course is, he wouldn't. "

anyway, the clip is fucking hilarious - check it out:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fc-V3NYckOI
