Chasm / Why are metalheads fucking useless
« on: December 05, 2007, 03:30:54 PM »
Metal is part rock and part something else. The rock part contains the idea of it being like rock, fans are those who determine what succeeds, bands are those who are adored but they are slaves to fans.

As long as that mentality exists, metalheads will be selfish. They will call it individualistic but I fail to see what is individualistic about trying to be different for differents sake. We call that posing.

This is why there are always a few embittered metalheads who call the rest of you posers and don't participate in your "How obscure is your latest purchase?" haul threads.

Fuck you.

I was looking at the requests thread and realized how inter-changable the names of black metal bands are. So I wanted to make a guide for people who would like to request nonexistent bands, because undoubtedly someone will upload something or start a bedroom black metal (BBW) band in that name.

Column A:

Latin Dictionary and Grammar Aid(s)

The New German English Dictionary

Dictionary of Mystical Terms

Column B:

The Catholic Encyclopedia

Thesaurus: death, black, evil, occult, kill

INSTRUCTIONS

Pick one from Column A, and one from Column B. If they look "slick" together, that's your Band Name and Demo Name. If they don't work, pick another term from Column A and add to the Column B term, or another term from Column B and add to the Column A term. Repeat until you have something palatable. Unless you're Immortal, who put out the incomprehensible "Diabolical Full Moon Mysticism" (and did not suck), it's wise you limit yourself to seven syllables total.

Going into the abandoned ruins of the wasteland to see what went before, to revel in its decay and failure, and possibly appreciate the beauties of the past... is there anything more metal than this?

A good site, fear of the dark et al.

Ignore the gay biker picture.

Prong - Demo '86 (1986, Megaupload)

Prong - Primitive Origins (1987, Megaupload)
Prong - Primitive Origins (1987, Rapidshare) - FLAC

Prong - Force Fed (1988, Megaupload)

Prong - Beg to Differ MP3s (1990, Megaupload) [ CD $12 | CD $5 | CD $9 ]

Violent, jazzy, ecclectic: This takes all that you would find on an album like Metallica's "Kill 'Em All" and puts it into a ARE YOU TALKIN TO ME?-style chunky rhythm, but with jazzy offtime phrasing and a good sense of melodic. Drumming and guitars are fantastic, and the bassist/vocalist adds depth like an indie band. This is the best from Prong and the album that inspired ARE YOU TALKIN TO ME? to make the change to their "Cowboys from Hell" style.

Prong - The Peel Sessions (EP) (1990, Megaupload)

Prong - Rude Awakening MP3 (1996, Megaupload)

Quote
"Cleansing" and "Rude Awakening" are along with Filter's "Short Bus" the best of the mainstream proto-nu-metal, and probably its most progressive works. They're like Immolation's "Harnessing Ruin" but better.

Ministry

Ministry - The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste (1989, Mediafire)
