Metal / ASGARD To A Golden Age
« on: December 24, 2015, 12:54:00 AM »
This hard to find album has recently been reissued, so I picked it up and found it to be a fine take on old scanddeath (or something in that direction). Any thoughts on this? And how about the rest of their output?

Metal / Mörk Gryning - Tusen År Har Gått
« on: February 11, 2015, 04:20:09 AM »
Anyone who cares or dares to share their thoughts about Mörk Grynings debut album "Tusen År Har Gått"? I don't think I have seen this record mentioned around here.

I'm wondering if anyone is aware of the existence of a music score(or sheet music, whatever. I'm not that familiar with the correct terms) or tablature search engine where you can for example type in a series of notes and let the engine search for scores which contain these series of notes? I'm sure this is available for classical music (maybe not in the way I image it, but something similar) but how about metal music? For example, it would be nice to be able to transcribe a riff you believe that you just made up, and find out that Sodom or someone else used it in the 80s. Well, even nicer if noone else has used the riff before.

Of course, metal tunes are often only available (if at all) in tablature format. And there's more to metal song/riff-writing than just the notes and chords, but I don't think it would be impossible to construct such a thing, even if it would have it's limitations. Sheet music would be preferable, with all the limitations of atleast the forms of tablature I know of (like the stuff you can find at metaltabs.com, etc.)

Metal / Whatever happened to Crimson Massacre?
« on: June 26, 2014, 04:19:46 AM »
New here on this forum, but have been reading the DLA for quite some time.
Does anybody know what happened to the promising Crimson Massacre? The Luster of Pandemonium was something out of the ordinary, atleast in my opinion. It wasn't a timeless release - more like a demo preview of something greater to follow. The Neoclassical review was right on spot with the At the Gates/Suffocation comparison though. You would have a hard time finding other bands in the gloomy mid 2000s producing as detailed and looong phrases/melodies that made sense as something more than progressive wankery.
Did they burn out after that recording, or? I remember reading something about new material, but have found no evidence of it actually being materialized.
