Interzone / The Warrior Elite
« on: May 29, 2011, 10:02:09 PM »
This seems to be a concept which is utterly lost on today's culture and is looked at as a strange artifact from a long forgotten past. Handing out "Support our Troops" bumper stickers or donating a few measly dollars to the Disabled Veterans of America seems to be the only remnant of acknowledging this centuries old tradition of honoring the warrior. Even to most soldiers today this is a foreign concept. Having been taught life is precious and to use force sparingly and humanely.

As I understood it,
WE shaped our cultures establishments and traditions through our force of will.
WE were the stewards of knowledge and understood it as an essential staple our continued existence.
WE understood our spiritual relationship to the Earth and all things that springs forth from it.
WE valued and embraced self sacrifice.
WE honored obedience knowing servitude would be our fate without it.
WE regarded warfare as an indispensable and inevitable characteristic of mankind.
WE sought always to perfect our craft and regarded it as high-art.

Interzone / FBI Probes Unabomber Connection to Tylenol Murders

Doesn't seem like his modus operandi. He always chose his targets specifically and with reason. If i'm not mistaken the government received a full confession years ago, and with a life sentence without the possibility of parole I couldn't see what he would gain by lying. But this didn't keep the justice department from profiting off of his namesake, since they have no shame in putting some of his possessions up for auction.

Interzone / Technology will save us, so fuck it.....

I've been paying attention to the people at The Zeitgeist Movement. It seems they believe that an all powerful, technologically applied system will save us from ourselves. I keep running into the mentality of, someone will create X technology to achieve Y and Z will be the outcome. If Z isn't the outcome we'll be advanced enough to just move to another planet. I can't see the validity of justifying destructive human behavior with technology. Especially a purely theoretical technology that isn't even past the "drawing board". Dealing with the humanist crowd can be frustrating. Everyone is equal, IQ doesn't exist, and everything must be summed up in a quippy or "clever" video.....

Interzone / Dokkodo(The Way of Walking Alone)
« on: January 03, 2011, 07:19:18 AM »
I recently began a little research into Eastern Warrior Cultures and inevitably stumbled upon the Samurai. Whilst studying, a certain Samurai struck a chord with me; Miyamota Musashi. I've read the Book of Five Rings years ago but found his later work the Dokkodo to be more relevant. It's a short text, only consisting of 21 precepts but I find them all to be quite poignant. While there a numerous translations the point of each is well understood. Most Samurai were aligned with a master or Daimyo while Musashi chose a higher path, so to speak. Does anyone know of any other works by notable or not so notable Samurai of the time period?
