Metal / Best Death Metal Demos
« on: March 22, 2014, 02:46:39 AM »
Demos seem to be not talked about as much, its more the debut albums and the following albums, all of which have someone else( sometimes not even death metal fans) tampering with behind the board.

List here your favorite demos from the old days!

Metal / Suffer - Global Warming , Structures
« on: October 25, 2013, 11:32:29 AM »
I have never heard this band before, I've skipped over the name many times when searching for some Death Metal to listen to.  I'm downloading the albums right now to give em a try.  What do you guys think of em?

Metal / Picking through "Best Of OSDM" lists
« on: June 22, 2013, 10:25:24 AM »
I have been looking back in time for some great old muddy death metal in the same spirit as Considered Dead and Mental Funeral  and I have come across lists that are in the hundreds. It seems there are an endless supply of these "best of old school death metal album" lists out there.  Now im certain about at least 50 % of these lists are no good and the user put them on there for some cult points or something but I am still compelled to chip through them.

So far I found a few that I have been enjoying:

Gorefest - Mindloss(1991)
Morta Skuld - As Humanity Fades(1994)
Deceased - Luck of The Corpse(1992) <- I had put off listening to this one for a long time, im glad I gave it a try!
Wombbath - Internal Caustic Torments(1993) <- i knew about this one prior to my search, this one was a real treat for me and was just what I was looking for, sick gruesome twisty riff atmosphere.

Anyways here are the lists I was looking at that someone had made.

Take a look and tell if there is any you know of/have heard that are worthy of a listen. Please indulge me with your opinions and views on some of these.  I have heard most of the albums that are reviewed on the DLA.

Interzone / Drunk, Destructive, and Disturbed
« on: May 31, 2013, 07:15:40 PM »
I recently watched the Hated : GG Allin Documentary, and asked myself is there really anything beneficial that could come from those types of actions and world views?

Is there anything one could possibly learn from delving into the shit abyss that is being drunk and disorderly and completely disregarding social norms?

Sometimes I implode and act like a fucking maniac and it feels good from time to time to blow off the steam.

My question is, How are we supposed to legitimately show that we are feeling repressed, angry and tired of the bullshit we are bombarded with on a daily basis, when any action of rebellion is tied to fines or "public disturbance"?  How do we cause/announce our problems and not be apart of the governments master plan?

Interzone / When to start a Family
« on: February 16, 2012, 07:38:01 PM »
I started this thread in somewhat of a reaction to "the meaning of life" thread.

Lately I have been envisioning having a son.  I normally take long walks daily and try and plan out my life and and ponder what exactly I am doing here on this rock, however I keep having visions of what it would be like to have a child with me.  A son is what always pops into mind but I would be happy with either sex as long as they are healthy.  I feel as though I am nearing completion(90% of the time) , only minor things bug me, one is a career change that would be suited more towards my strengths, rather than falling into something that doesn't really appeal to me but the money is good.  Anyways, most of my thoughts are geared towards finding my place in this world, where I want to live and where I will be happy(probably rural B.C) but with these thoughts of children popping in my head I keep asking myself

"Is the answer to my completion, children?"
"Am I fit to be a father just yet?"
"Am I able to pass on valuable knowledge to my children?"

I don't know what are your thoughts?

Interzone / Should labels reject Nazi music?

These big Jewish run labels must be CONVINCED they are going to get their asses shoved back in the oven if they are this paranoid about fascist leanings in music.

Interzone / Speakers and Sound Systems
« on: December 17, 2011, 06:15:45 PM »
Hey everyone,

Im starting to stash money away for a quality set of speakers and I was wondering what speakers you all use and which ones you would recommend for the best, most powerful sound.  Right now im using 2 Hitatchi tower speakers that are seriously worn out( they are probably older than me).  So whoever the techs are, please give me some tips or something for when shopping around!  Thanks

Metal / Freshen up the anus
« on: September 25, 2011, 04:02:29 PM »
I think it would be a cool idea for the DLA to do something like what DEATHMETAL.ORG does, except more frequently.

- Refresh house recommendations for each section**
- Have a weekly album review*****
- Pull out an album from the vault and discuss***
- Adding some newer material to the lists ( ie. TRUPPENSTURM!!!)**

What do you guys think?

Metal / Refining your own musical taste
« on: January 02, 2011, 05:03:31 PM »
I've been thinking lately about all the great metal albums there is in existence today, and how its probably impossible to aquire them all( in one way or another).  Personally knowing that there is so many worthy bands and albums out there to listen to and indulge in, is it even possible to like all of these?  I find some albums take multiple listens before everything finally makes sense, and to fully appreciate them.  Sometimes i go through phases where the only music that is connecting with me is 2 or 3 albums at a time. This can go on for a couple of weeks to a month.  So what im asking is, How many of you actually take time with metal, and how many of you crave a new album daily or weekly?

Have you ever lost interest in your entire collection at a point in time when only one album connects with you?

How many of you have refined your collection, your taste, down to a particular sound, or lyrical theme?

Ive just been asking myself these questions lately, and since none of my friends enjoy the music i dol, i thought i would ask all of you.  What are your thoughts?

Metal / What metal makes you "raise your sword"?
« on: November 15, 2010, 08:08:47 PM »
I was listening to Show No Mercy today and i realised this is probably the most uplifting morale improving album i think i may have ever heard.  Opinions obviously will vary which is why i started the thread to ask each and every one which album they put on that gets them off their ass, out the door, ready to kick some ass again? I was thinking of purchasing a sword for not only a weapon, but for symbolic value so whenever i am down, and need something to get me on my feet again, i will RAISE MY SWORD!

Metal / New Black Witchery "Inferno Of Sacred Destruction"
« on: November 02, 2010, 11:06:28 AM »

Seems like they are taking a new direction with their sound, more guttural vocals and deeper heavier guitars.

Metal / Music Collections..
« on: October 03, 2010, 03:36:34 PM »
Hey i just wanted to know just how many of you collect CD's/Vinyls/Tapes.  The reason i ask is i read alot of people saying :

" deleted this one"
"downloaded that one"
"Downloaded their full discography"

Do alot of you just download for free or pay for the albums and then download??
Personally i use downloading only to see if the album/band is good, and if it is i get it on Vinyl(First priority) if it wasnt released on vinyl i go for CD and then tapes. If you are vinyl enthusiast which is your most prized record??

For me, ALL of Beherits records.

Metal / Coloured Vinyl Feedback
« on: June 15, 2010, 09:41:44 PM »
I've been waiting for a few records now to pop up on black vinyl, some old, some new, I was wondering if anyone had purchased some of the following.  Im waiting to find a copy of "Engram", but so far i have only seen the green variant.  Im also looking for "Haunting The Chapel" but i have only seen the double LP with "Live Undead" pressed on purple vinyl.  Does anyone have any of these colored vinyls? How is the sound quality?  I know some colored vinyls sound like shit and I dont want to waste the money on poor quality vinyls. Let me know guys.
