Metal / "Unholy Alliance"

Last night I went to see Slayer play at the "unholy alliance tour". I'll say right now, it was pretty much 100 % bullshit. Lamb of God and Mastodon were the most horrible fucking bands I've ever heard. In fact, I felt like I was listening to Limp Bizkit or Desturbed, not metal.

Does anyone know the status of this band? On the Metal Archives it says they're still active, yet they havn't made an album since 1997.

I've only been listening to death metal for about a year and a half now, but of all the records I've listened to, Deicide's Legion stands out as very unique. Does anyone know of any bands that follow in this style?
