Interzone / Shit on the pansies
« on: April 12, 2012, 01:13:49 PM »
If you post your complaints here, it has a chance of being acted upon, where if you snipe passively in other threads, it's just chaff and gets ignored.

It's my opinion that if you shit on enough pansies, an oak tree might grow.

That might sound clever, but really it means nothing.

Interzone / Complaints

The forum is a work of fiction and an egotistical enterprise for the many fractured facets of the administrator's psyche. If they feel they are being excluded from a topic of conversation, they will butcher it at birth.

Once you are aware of this fact, (for fact it is) you should enjoy your years at death camp anus.

Interzone / Stoned to death for being an emo

Youngsters in Iraq are being stoned to death for having haircuts and wearing clothes that emulate the ‘emo’ style popular among western teenagers.

At least 14 youths have been killed in the capital Baghdad in the past three weeks in what appears to be a campaign by Shia militants.

I wanted to write a flippant comment but I cannot top the actual reality of events.

The world is a beautiful, beautiful place. Never lose sight of that.

Interzone / Male Supremacy
« on: February 27, 2012, 02:39:10 PM »
It is a glorious time to be alive and be a male. For too long we have heard dystopian fantasies about a future where men are no longer "necessary" for the future of humanity, and many witty types have suggested that this would be beneficial to the stability of the planet too. Scientists had predicted that whilst sperm could be artificially cloned - leaving the male role in reproduction essentially redundant - the Y Chromosome (only found in men) was decaying at a rate that would mean no men being born within 5 million years.

Now, new research has proven that this is not necessarily the case, and that decay of the Y chromosome has all but halted.

And now on top of that, further experimentation has successfully observed that stem cells can be induced to replicate human eggs on command. For those who do not know the biological make-up of us mammals: women are born with all their eggs already generated at birth; they create no eggs during their life. So this is a great improvement on the biological, organic and free range female livestock that we currently keep.

Interzone / USA highest male rape rate in history
« on: February 04, 2012, 11:45:07 PM »
Quote
For 2008, for example, the government had previously tallied 935 confirmed instances of sexual abuse. After asking around, and performing some calculations, the Justice Department came up with a new number: 216,000. That’s 216,000 victims, not instances. These victims are often assaulted multiple times over the course of the year. The Justice Department now seems to be saying that prison rape accounted for the majority of all rapes committed in the US in 2008, likely making the United States the first country in the history of the world to count more rapes for men than for women.

Oh oh oh wowowwowow
yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-oh

It's a darkness you can't deny
But it don't belong in a grown up mind
Suppose you'll find this place in a youngster's eyes
Coming into life you needn't cry
But as a boy you gotta let it go
You'll find out something is good
Oh black metal you're so misunderstood

Holdin' on to black metal
(Black metal)
Holdin' on to black metal
(Black metal)
Black metal you've been holding on too long

Oh black metal, so misunderstood
Don't turn yourself into Lucifer's fool
Black metal feeds those young, enough is enough
Wants refills out of Lucifer's cup
Black metal lead to and your teenage pop
Look at you starchild you're all grown up

Still holdin' on to black metal
(Black metal)
Still holdin' on to black metal
(Black metal)
Black metal you've been holding on too long

Catch your waves on Lucifer's beach
Taking shade and underneath Lucifer's trees
Getting sustenance from Lucifer's peach
Oh black metal it's a fact in all your speech

Holdin' on to black metal
(Black metal)
Holdin' on to black metal
(Black metal)
Black metal you've been holding on too long

ooooooooh yea yea yea yea yea oooow

(Black metal)
(Black metal)
Oh bring them to me
(Black metal)
Oh making me think
(Black metal)
Oh one, two, three
Let's rock!

Guys: Let's rock!

the most recently disclosed total debt was 14,211,567,662,931.23 as of March 28. This excludes the settlement of all of this week's auctions which amount to $35 + $35 + $29 billion (including today) or $99 billion. Adding the two amounts to $14,310,567,662,931.23. As a reminder the debt ceiling is $14,294,000,000,000.00. In other words, the total US debt just passed the debt limit - break out the Champagne! Granted there is a buffer of $52.2 billion between the total debt and the debt actually subject to the ceiling, meaning that America is not in default, yet. Therefore, the total debt subject to the limit assuming full settlement right now is $14,258,341,662,931. Which means the US is now $35.7 billion away from a bona fide breach of the debt ceiling. Yes, there are some caveats, and it is possible that there will be an accelerated redemption of bills over the next few days, pushing the total debt slightly lower, but readers get the idea.

Metal / BBC4 Heavy Metal Britannia
« on: March 06, 2010, 11:35:30 PM »
Heavy metal night on the BBC last night. Here is the main documentary (1h30" long, mp4). BBC4 is the "art & culture" channel on television, which runs documentaries, old films, and profiles of classical composers.

As an introduction for "normals" to metal, it raises several of the points that ANUS (and many others) consider central to the identity of the music, namely:

-working class Britishness was more of an influence than the blues root
-Heavy metal is not the same thing as hard rock
-The Doors was an aesthetic influence
-Church burnings in 70s America were blamed on "satanic" heavy metal
-Metal is symphonic in performance
-like classical listeners, metalheads are seen as overly passionate nerds.

One thing - I have seen several of these programs in the series (punk rock, prog rock, rough trade records) and the metal musicians in this program are the least jaded of the lot. They are still absolutely passionate about the music that they pioneered. In fact, this is the final conclusion put forward by the musicians in the closing part of the program: "It's more of a religion".

Hopefully, watching an hour and a half of metal's elder statesmen talking about their music, their life, and their various influences, will be enough to encourage people  to not indulge in this sort of thing in the future.

Metal / Averse Sefira denounces part-time metallers

...we use the word "Hessian" to point to our interests as a cultural phenomenon rather than a hobby or weekend thing. Some "metalheads" find this outlook weird and pretentious, which mystifies me. So many people around the world dedicate the wholes of their lives to this music; they travel great distances to experience it, they refuse to cut their hair or cover their tatoos because they are unashamed and don't care if it costs them promotions at work... I don't think a transient term like "metalhead" captures any of this at all. I am a metalhead, yes, but more importantly I am a Hessian - to the death.

http://www.blastzine.cjb.net/

I think this is an important point being made here. Is showing dedication and giving the appearance of focus and sincerity "unfashionable" in metal nowadays, and - if so - can that be anything other than damaging to the music as a whole?

Or should we be optimistic and see this as simply inevitable? After all,  the transient fair-weather metallers will always appear the most excited about the novelty value of the music, but for a short period of time. This makes their voices appear louder and more numerous than the die-hards. But in the end, they will play little part in the music in the long term.

Metal / Hellhammer Demos to be Officially Released
« on: November 12, 2007, 06:02:07 PM »
This is a recent Hellhammer update posted on My[ego]Space.com:

==================

From the forthcoming book, "Only Death is Real - An Illustrated History of Hellhammer and early Celtic Frost", by Tom Gabriel Fischer:

Quote
"Hellhammer was much maligned, both during its existence and for years afterwards. It was maligned not only by much of the press and most of the metal audience, but also by me and several other former band members. It was, for a long time, difficult for most of us to come to terms with Hellhammer's often chaotic and radically varied legacy. Moreover, it was frequently very challenging to come to terms with how others interpreted Hellhammer and how they referred to and expanded upon what we had once created.

It took years for the accumulated unease to subside. It took years to disassociate ourselves from the perceived stigma, and to be able to properly evaluate Hellhammer within our own, very personal context. What many others knew long before me took quite a while for me to identify: that it was perfectly fair and overdue that we looked at Hellhammer realistically and in a manner sufficiently dignified to do justice to the work of a number of very unique people who shared the same vision at a very unique point in time."

There exist countless Hellhammer demo bootlegs, but they all utterly fail to capture the true aura, to represent the band as it actually was. They have been compiled from dismal multi-generation copies of the original tapes, and they are invariably riddled with factual and historical errors or outright lies. Former Hellhammer members Tom Gabriel Fischer, Martin Eric Ain, and Steve Warrior have decided to rectify this situation once and for all. "Demon Entrails" is the first official release of the legendary Hellhammer demos "Death Fiend"/"Triumph of Death" and "Satanic Rites" since the original limited cassette editions in 1983.

This release has been specially re-mastered from copies of the original master tapes under the supervision of Tom Gabriel Fischer, and the demos now represent Hellhammer exactly as the band sounded when recording these songs in June and December of 1983. Drawing from a wealth of previously unknown historical material and artwork as well as hundreds of unreleased Hellhammer photos from 1982 to 1984, "Demon Entrails" will also feature all lyrics and essays detailing the individual demo recording sessions.

"Demon Entrails" will be released as an opulent oversized double CD and as a gatefold triple vinyl album. Both versions will feature a lavish booklet and a poster. There will also be a third, bare-bones low-price CD version, designed to cater to markets which will not carry the standard CD due to its irregular size.

The release is scheduled for February 2008, through Prowling Death Records/Century Media.

Metal / "Piggybacking"...
« on: September 04, 2007, 08:41:59 AM »
Here's a thought I had after seeing this post: http://www.anus.com/metal/hall/YaBB.cgi?board=mp3;action=display;num=1188904338 (which may be deleted soon...it was the latest Drudkh in the audiofile section)

Some bands, ie Drudkh, are not supported by this site, but their newest releases are widely sought after for download. Have you considered "piggybacking" respected bands on these cash cows?

Piggybacking is used in TV to promote a new program by putting it on immediately after an established success. It has also been practiced in the music industry for decades in the form of support acts...

If you take a popular band like drudkh, upload their album, and put a respectable band's album (or even just a few "sample" songs) in the folder before you zip it, you will find a whole lot of new listeners: everyone likes a free gift (even inside a free download! ;) )

Point is, you'll never "destroy" the fanbase of bands you oppose by attacking them, but you can diminish their numbers by showing them a better alternative.

This idea would be even more effective if the files were converted to torrents, which seem to reproduce themselves all over the web.

Any suggestions/flaws to this idea? (Or anyone who knows how to "make" torrent files? I have not looked into this area of tech in any great depth up until now.)
