Nihilism is not hate.

3) the inclusion of Metallica's 'Master of Puppets' bothers me.  i don't understand why you don't have the same complaints about this album as you do At The Gates' 'Terminal Spirit Disease'; it's not the sellout album that AJFA was, but it's certainly vastly different from their peak of RTL.

Kind of agree but overall I think MoP was the best.

Pestilence - Malleus Maleficarum - no one has created an album like this since.  i probably listen to its successor more, which is also great, but i think this album fits the list we're after here.  unfortunately, after the first two albums they crashed badly.

I like Spheres and think it would be great for this list.

What I'm thinking of is a list of band that anyone open-minded and musically/artistically aware can pick up and listen to, and understand metal for its core of thinkers and actors and not its imitators.

I'm confused here, is this the goal still or is it now to make broadened best ever lists?

A compilation like this would be ideal, with more representative bands/songs.
I say use the styles page because they are all good songs and you can also pick a band representative of a particular style.

Does Cannibal Corpse's album cover's disgust anoyone else? Not only because they are disgusting to look at but because they belong to a band who are such attention whores.

I didn't really know where to put this...
About the Cause of Death/Slowly We Rot double cd, I downloaded Cause of Death a long time ago but is the Slowly We Rot half any good?

the list of groups include trivium, machine head, bullet for my valentine, anal sodomy, cumguzzler, etc.

Thats the most hilarious thing I've read on this forum.

Metallica is the best thrash metal band ever.  The only band that comes (really) close is Slayer.

Thats a bunch of shit, I consider Metallica and Megadeth a close tie. Megadeth would easily be better than Metallica if Mustaine got an actual singer to do the job, but thankfully on their good stuff he doesn't sing much.

It would be nice to see some of these albums in the audiofile. (Specifically the Thrash and Punk)

Metal / Re: Pantera's hair metal past

I knew this cat back in '86 who had one of their early poser records... I tried to tell people about them around the Vulgar Display-era, but few believed me... even Winger thinks these guys are GAY! :P

I was making fun of this guy who said Pantera was heavier than Megadeth and Athiest and he actually knew they used to be a hair band. I was shocked.

Hmm.. But the color in the photo doesn't look too great.

Maybe it was a shitty camera.

At the Ibanez website the color doesn't look that bad, and you can just leave the bar off and not use it. I would buy it.

Yes it sucks ass living in the Bible Belt.
Also everything is consumed by Christianity, it's not so much as "Southern Culture."

I'm broke, a kid, don't have a job, live in the great redneck hillbilly state of Alabama and have parents that suck. I doubt I will ever be able to go see anyone good. All I go to are my friend's shows which aren't that great and are full of high school poser emo people. They don't even have true mosh pits they just push each other around in front of the stage.
