I wasn't really impressed with the miniCD.

They are focused on novelty and not what they would write music about that is important to someone else.

It's so emo.

I've just listened to a little bit of Cryptopsy, and now I wonder -- what about these "Hyperblast" bands that came out of Canada in the early 90s ? Surely there's something here that's yet to come to fruition.

I don't think it will be, since they were actually a revival (1996) of all the Suffocation clones that came out in 1993-1994. They were just a little faster.

What do video games add to your life?

What does TV add to your life?

A way to pass the time. That's not constructive, creative or individualistic, at all. It reeks of slave mentality.

Now you idiots have wrecked this thread by yammering on about your addictions, because you're afraid to admit you're addicted to something stupid.

I would like to talk about metal's relation to classical specifically how prog rock birthed metal. Thank you!

And like I mentioned before, the disposal of all who failed would also take up resources and would most likely pollute.

More or less than the status quo?

Intelligent people will immediatly recognize this kind of thing as part of a larger pattern of a disintegrating, degenerate society; that mall-culture and desperate suicidal rampages are essentially the same thing. Everyone else will rush to figure out whether they 'support' or 'condemn' it and adopt the appropriate slogans.

Yeah, very true. How do we combat it? Certainly not by buying metal albums.

Forums can be compared to modern society. Most of what goes on in forums is stupid shit. If we repurpose them, good things can happen, but it rarely does, because dumbshits keep barging in and screaming about how important their dysfunctions are.

The first post was whiney, self-congratulatory in tone and completely unnecessary.

No, it's not. It's a statement of reality.

If you can't accept that, maybe your life is unexamined.

I don't see metalheads doing great things. I see them failing for the same reasons. Why are you opposed to taking note of this?

This is partly why I am so wary of the argument for killing everyone who tests under 120 IQ. It is an incomplete measurement of human value and behavior.

It doesn't need to be complete. The point is to weed out fuckups, not divide humanity into an elite and preterite.

Interzone / Why are metalheads fucking useless
« on: December 05, 2007, 07:30:54 AM »
Metal is part rock and part something else. The rock part contains the idea of it being like rock, fans are those who determine what succeeds, bands are those who are adored but they are slaves to fans.

As long as that mentality exists, metalheads will be selfish. They will call it individualistic but I fail to see what is individualistic about trying to be different for differents sake. We call that posing.

This is why there are always a few embittered metalheads who call the rest of you posers and don't participate in your "How obscure is your latest purchase?" haul threads.

Fuck you.

This thread is proof of why metalheads fail at everything they try.

Stop trying to mention some obscure composer so to make yourself sound more profound. That is hipster behavior.

Start with Beethoven or Mozart, and find out how to appreciate those before trying the weird or third-tier.

Interzone / Re: Paganism, Nazism, Satanism

They're all the same.

I have to say I think hes right...

Paganism. Nature is a process, natural selection is good, you worship the whole thing both good and bad.

Nazism. Paganism + industrial state.

Satanism. Cheap copy of Paganism.

Good writing. However, the CD is not that good. In fact, everything this band has ever done has been flat. Like a turd on a runway.

Metal / Re: Why is Music so Unique and Essential?

What can you IMAGINE the world (humans as a society, civilisation, as a whole) would be like IF music had never existed?

Are you a troll, or just retarded? The "HAIL SATAN's cab" suggests a moronic hipster.

Metal / Re: Growing out of Metal?
« on: September 29, 2006, 06:57:26 AM »
i'll no sooner grow out of metal than i will of classical music.

Metal kicked me out by getting shitty around 1994 or so. I would be more of a metalhead but I don't want to be associated with the stupidity.

What we see in films like American Beauty and Fight Club is not actually a critique of consumerism; it’s merely a restatement of the “critique of mass society” that has been around since the 1950s. The two are not the same. In fact, the critique of mass society has been one of the most powerful forces driving consumerism for more than 40 years.

This describes the kvlt underground to a T.

Metal / Re: Cynic reunite
« on: September 29, 2006, 06:27:04 AM »
Focus was OK except for the vocals. I liked the guitar playing and some of the breakdowns but the songs were like ALL prog-metal, they had no spirit & were about nothing. No soul and no concept. I would not buy another Cynic album.
