Truly this confusion compounds itself. Satan is the whisperer, the reject, the liberal, powerless except for knowledge and for humanity. Strength, darkness, silence, cacophony, authority, hell, heaven all come from the Lord, for all creation comes from him and evil is a privation thereof. I see my favourite Euronymous quote in this thread, yet the Christianity that he despised is modern Christianity which is a front for liberalism (as far as people are concerned). Ironically his position was closer to genuine faith.
What is Satan? More importantly what is he not? Not the dark half that is for sure, but that is what he is often considered. The rebellion of Satan is one of petulance and ego, not will, for will is a godly thing. The horned Lord is not Satan, though I am sure he would love to be considered as such!
I think this is too convoluted to be an accurate depiction.
As Shiva dances, he creates. As he creates, so he destroys. Life exists between Venus and Mars.
I believe a more accurate picture of Satan is found in the dialectic between Satan and Christ which gives us knowledge of God.
I thought it was terrible for the first three listens. It's not an immediate album by any means. Now that the imagery has sunk in, I find it to be one of their more compelling outputs, just under Profanatitas but well, well above Dbag. It's also the perfect length for their intentions. It leaves the listener wanting more without feeling incomplete.
Dont have to be PC to knock N5BM, it sucks, the bands suck, the ideology sucks too. Yeah sure there are a few exceptions, but they are not really notable (I can only think of NM atm). As far as the ideology is concerned, getting a lot of things right but some vital things wrong is worse than bad.
It's as you say, the music is awful. That's the most damning aspect of it. I'm positive that at some point the Norwegian black metal celebs had NS sympathies but the music was not shit. I will say however that the only worthwhile NS band I've experienced is Spear of Longinus.
I suspected as much.
How often do we assume we know what somebody means, or that they understand what we mean, when it absolutely isn't happening?
I blame most of this state of affairs on the '60s drug culture, and its aftermath. It was the first time I ever heard people saying "d'ya know what I mean?" Drugged hippies imagined they knew what everyone meant even when those people hadn't actually said anything. And upon being asked if you knew what they meant, who was going to admit they were the only ones who didn't?
No. The fact is: almost nobody understands almost anything almost anybody says, writes, or means. They mostly only think they do. While thinking everybody else understands them.

They did some good. The call to scale down was an adaptive response to future crisis. In fact, the culture itself inspired a lot of innovation in energy conservation practices in things like home construction and cut down the nations use of fossil fuels, for a brief period, in a substantial way. Unfortunately it all went out the window in the following decades. The full movement never truly caught on with the political class like it needed to due to the inherent risk in adopting the required policy. The extreme relativism and drug abuse was bad, as was the rebellion against traditional structures, but I don't feel like completely writing those poor saps off.
It doesn't matter how you define God, at all. It only matters that you place God above and before yourself.
If your definition of God is Elvis or Ronald Mcdonald, I hope you don't place it above yourself. It got to be some restrictions about the notion of god if not everything can be a god.
If you place Elvis on the kind of pedistal I describe, I can almost guarantee it will be Elvis in name only.
I get what Vigilance is saying.
Consider that he started with an assumption: Meaning is not real, meaning is the product of human minds. It is the most basic platform from which we develop ideas like nihilism.
Now what he means is clear; The more meaning you find in something, the more withdrawn you are from the actual meaningless reality of the something.
My car means a lot to me, because I rely on it to achieve my goals (which are admittedly quite meaningless). To someone else who does not rely on my car's utility, my car is less meaningful to them. It does not represent anything outside of its own existence as a car.
So meaning is basically a measurement of the significance of utility reflected in an object (or idea, song, what have you).
Now of course I see both sides and can not make a decision on the meaningfulness of meaning. So it is a human invention, a psychological crutch or restraint. So is my car, yet I accomplish tasks with it, and so cause changes in the actual reality surrounding myself.
Real, not real. Sometimes I only confuse myself more by drawing a distinction.
No that's not at all what I meant. Meaning and dreaming are real. People looking to quantify meaning with some abstract generalization drawn from outside the self, are in error.
The only way you can get an objective correspondence to show others is by way of art, really. Art gives concrete and objective form to meaning. Writing can get the job done, but I don't think it is the best vehicle.
And the meaning of that is?
It means that you've beaten the thing down with abstraction and probably lost sight of the thing, as it is, entirely.
