Some good stuff here. Apparently funds go towards production of the new album. A worthy cause!

The guys in Birth AD are just too damn old for thrash, they don't have that youthful vibe, are from an older generation and it shows in their attitude and aesthetics. If anyone is going to cause a thrash resurgence, it's going to be some 15 to 20 year old kids with a lot of spirit who have no idea what they're doing. This might be cool for you old people but those born in the 90's aren't seeing anything new here.

You're totally right! Bands like Bonded By Blood and Skeletonwitch are going to lead metal to a new Renaissance!

We all listened to Korn at one point.

What? No. And what's with all the whiny (and brand new) people on this thread? I think we're being trolled, folks.

At this point, Dickinson talking about metal ideals is like an aristocrat talking about the poor. He's miles away from what's actually happening.

Metal / Re: The "Bad" Immortal Albums. Are we asking too much?
« on: June 24, 2010, 08:06:59 AM »
Given their vapid commentary in media appearances such as "Until the Light Takes Us", I'm prone to reach the conclusion that the bunch were traitors all along. Note that before and during his imprisonment, Varg was always saying kind things about the Immortal guys but now has added them to the list of rats. Excellent music, though.

That's a stupid outlook from a know-it-all outsider. You're confusing vapid with blunt, and you don't have any insight into their dealings with Varg then and now. Please shut the fuck up.

What an asshole. The line in that stupid Pantera song that was actually decried as racist was "Walk on home, BOY!" at the end. Tommy Victor came up in the brutal days of the Bowery in New York. He, and a lot of guys like him (Cro-Mags, Agnostic Front, et al), regard themselves as a "different breed" because life in NYC in the early 80s was a unique and very difficult experience.

Here's another major influence on metal: DH Lawrence

Agreed. And I'd say the writings of Michael Moorcock and Robert E Howard made more of an imprint than anyone would already expect.

This is what Catholicism does to people - men become victimizers, women become victims.

Not going to happen. I'm also not going to tell you where I heard the myriad stories of David Vincent's gay exploits and his on again/off again relationship with Trey.

If he knows, he's not going to be able to answer you without namedropping, which is a bad idea because it's obnoxious but also because it "outs" your sources.

What he said. Though basically if you're even one step above fan level, stuff like this is common knowledge.

Nashville, TN.

Only metal that gets any support around here are the kinds that involve eyeliner or backwards ball caps.

Or sometimes both at once :D

How exactly do you know this? Do you have any proof?

Yep. I'm his landlord, so let me just scan the lease agreement and I'll post it here... SHUT THE FUCK UP, JERKASS!!!!!
