This post reminds me of those chapters in American Psycho where Bateman eulogises about Whitney Houston and Genesis. :)

To be honest, I don't see much of interest in the interview.

It's the same old stuff that nearly every black metal band talk about in interviews.

"Black metal is art, not entertainment! We hate entertainment!" Etc. They've just stated the usual memes in a typically pseudo-intellectual fashion.

I think Metal Archives was a very good idea.

But. It's let down because it's so democratic. Every idiot is allowed to wade in with their useless oar carved from the lack-of-discernment tree.

Metal Archives should be the subject of a hostile takeover from the guys who ran LARM.

That movie was awesome. Not just a good horror film, but a great satire on consumer society.

Observe how the survivors set themselves up with all the nicest stuff they can get from the stores, then after a while - "Is this it? Look what we've become!" Time to get tooled up and kill stuff.

A bit like: comfy Americans looking back to the frontier days
A bit like: comfy Norwegians looking back to the viking days

I like it, it looks fresh and dynamic and not just a list of articles that gets updated sometimes.

If the idea's to reach people and gain new blood, then this is a good start.

Cool to see it re-released, but shame about the new "artwork". The original cover (i.e. on the Drakkar CD, not the vinyl)  was far superior. This one looks like the typical album cover of some kvlt idiots trying to be oh so obscure.

Metal / Re: How to Start a Black Metal Band

The guy from Abyssic Hate once said that running a black metal band nowadays involved:

25% photoshop
50% social networking
20% public relations / marketing
5% music / composition

Or something like that.

Quite an amusing IRL troll album and a good idea, pity almost all of the music is really bad. Thesyre is ok, that looks to be about it.

Sorry the spine, I really would not recommend Lucifugum. I haven't heard much of their stuff, but what I have, is terrible. "Instinct Prevalence" was total garbage.

One half sounds like a circus version of early Satyricon (or perhaps Satyricon played on one of those ice hockey organs), the other is typical boring droning eastern european sawmill black metal.

Stereogum has more than a whiff of hipster about it to me.

Interesting how Vikernes is now claiming that Den Hvite Guden (The White God) was only ever a "working title". One of the most absurd statements he's made of late.

I believe this fellow used to write reviews for a US based death metal zine back in the early 90's. I can't remember the zine's name off hand though.

Fenriz talks about the new Darkthrone album at his myAIDS, and takes another swipe at Antihumanism.com while he's at it:

Earache boss deliberately leaked 'Belus', stating that the album was "garbage" and Vikernes a "racist dickhead".

Surely this is advertising for getting Belus, rather than advertising against it?

Maybe, I just thought it was amusing and kind of ironic.
