"Anti-Sentiment," yes! This is more accurate than "anti-emotion." To me, what "good" metal expresses, above all else, is PASSION. But is "passion" really an emotion? I think it is somehow "above the fray" of emotions...
But back to Burzum's various 20 minute long ambient pieces. Does anybody else think there's something just "desperate" about them? They just sound desperate to me, and I'm skeptical of desperate people.
"Tomhet" is in my opinion the best single piece of music Varg ever produced.
The "best fits you" part might be an error. You reconstruct with ideas that are sane. You are just one part of the world.
Jesus didn't get that part. He also was an activist against the greatest empire history has ever seen.
The British Empire?
Or you could, you know, just listen to and enjoy the music and not live in a way that a genre of music tells you to. That second way makes you just as much of a sheep as everybody else in the world. You are just being led by a different Shepard.
But have fun doing it your way.
Metal doesn't tell you what to fill your life with, it tells you how to approach your entire existence. One of the ideals of metal is what you just described - the pursuit of the "overman" in yourself.
Applying another's good ideas to your own life is far more rewarding than selfish individualism.
You are probably speaking about feral individuals, not actual pets. Owning pets entails the responsibility to reduce the animal's impact on local ecology, which is what most carnivore owners don't realize.
Then you need to keep the dog tied up with a rope attached to you when he is allowed outside of the house, and the cat kept indoors at all times.
