Chasm / Re: A little thought experiment for y'all.
« on: January 09, 2011, 02:00:40 PM »Quote
The main theme of humanity is that at least 90% of the people 90% of the time are and have always been engaged in unproductive, stupid, destructive or pointless behavior. A few rise above. That's what we live for.
How can you have a "healthy" society when most people are worthless, and those of value usually don't call the shots?

Commerce / Re: ANUS users own compositions
« on: January 09, 2011, 01:52:26 PM »I was referring in general to Baroque (and, indeed, the majority of Classical), when I posted Bach's mug up there. It's generally heavily "mathematical" (as far as I've heard), and I would suggest that an analytical mind would lend itself far better to similar mathematical pursuits than a creative mind (though, as with your suggestion, this is by no means meant to be a blanket statement, as there are exceptions to the vast majority of rules). I'd even go so far as to say that Metal is an "analytical" form of music. The compositions seem to me to be more designed and built than they are intuitively created.
I suppose classical makes a good point against my theory, though I don't know much about the people who made classical other than some of their works. Mozart might've been another exception to my "rule."
What metal bands could we consider "analytical," though? Clearly not, say for example, Slayer. But Gorguts, Atheist, Windham Hell would suggest the people behind them are.
Though, I think this is getting nowhere. I regret making my "theory" already.

Or more likely:
Most go on to more stable careers than music, and do it as a hobby. The placement of musical talent, drive and timing is a rare thing.
I have hope for the people here. For every one who complains too much, there are others who are constructive and enhancing life. They live on.
But just about everybody wishes they were a musician instead of plumber/mechanic/office drone/lifestyle counselor.
I hope you weren't insinuating I complain too much, even though I do.

_USUALLY_
It was a theory I was entertaining, anyways.

Metal / Re: Black/Death Metal Deaths
« on: January 09, 2011, 01:51:14 AM »Gotta agree with the above comment. That's probably the most fitting death for an Narrow Squirting Bowel Movement moron that I've ever heard.
The dumbfucks didn't even market that shit to hell and back. Mayhem were smart enough to pimp out Dead's corpse picture (granted, I know Dark of Black Hearts is a bootleg, but I'm quite sure that pic made its rounds beforehand).
Drop the Narrow Squirting Bowel Movement and up with the Kentucky-Fried NBSM. It's a real moneymaker.

I don't really have anything insightful to add except that when I first heard Atheist, I thought they were fucking terrible. The album, of course, was Elements.
Thankfully I found this snobby ass site and I was corrected regarding the proper Atheist listening procedures.

I want to avoid the pretentious "transcendent tradionalist" nonsense and listen to something crunchy with good song writing.the tl;dr is that nothing especially good has come out of this thread yet.
Ah, okay, thanks. I think analytical people like the volk at ANUS usually don't have musical talent

Chasm / Re: A little thought experiment for y'all.
« on: January 07, 2011, 05:48:59 PM »Plenty of traditional societies were far more healthy than the current culture is. Quite a few weren't. Certainly the monarchies of early modern Europe were fucking disasters, but then, they were the product of spent aristocratic societies holding on to the last vestiges of power by grasping at new technologies. It is unfortunate that these cultures represent the last experience that the West had with monarchy and aristocratic government, as it obscures the essential nature of these forms of organization during healthy stages of development.
Which ones were healthy?

« on: January 07, 2011, 03:47:59 PM »Then you're arguing against a straw man. I haven't seen anyone here suggest that there has ever been an example of a perfectly functioning society, or one in which all considerations but merit were swept aside. So there's no such thing as Utopia. We know. Everyone knows. To suggest, as you seem to be, that this means we should just give up and accept the status quo is classic illustration of the fallacy of false choice, though I suppose it might score you some internet points.
The point is that these societies weren't good, amazing, healthy, fundamentally different than the "now," or worth fixating upon.

« on: January 07, 2011, 03:37:04 PM »But how does your question illustrate this in any meaningful way? It's just strikes me as an invitation to feel bad for people at the bottom of the social totem pole because, OMG, what if that were you?!! The value of a "traditional" society has never been a guarantee that we would reap the benefits of sitting atop the social status heap, but that "traditional" societies are organized for productive living in a more sane, rational manner. Now, you're free to dispute that point, but know you're not disputing it by asking people to imagine how shitty it would be if they were serfs.
I don't give a shit about people who are naturally losers, and I think I already said that.
Jewish Christ, the point (among others) is that there NEVER has been a society that's truly ever functioned on the basis of merit and worth. I mean, I'm taking it for granted that the people here are all above average in intellect and ability (even though they like to entertain pretentious bullshit) so the idea is that if one was placed in the "scrape feces off the streets" "caste" for completely asinine reasons not related to, um, "genetic quality" they'd be less heartfelt of "the good old days."
"Tradional societies" never really had the "sane, rational manner" you describe. Think of society today -- it's truly not that much different than the societies of the past except for some cosmetic transience. The whole tradition shit is nonsense, people looking towards the past and seeing something that wasn't there.
As fucked as modern society is, the capitalist-egalitarian mindset of social darwinism is hilariously the most functional of all, theoretically speaking only -- no longer is some fatass inbred King sitting on a throne ruling people he's never met, or is some priest in the center of the village praising God while pimping whores afterhours. Though, all that's been replaced with by more of the same -- some faux-aristocracy of balding losers wearing business suits, or Oprahs or TV evangelists, so really, whaddya expect.
I could go on but, as you can see, I'm already losing focus.

« on: January 07, 2011, 03:05:09 PM »So what, then, is the point, if not just a silly emotive appeal to, "How would YOU feel?"
I don't think I phrased it like that at all -- though I was trying to illuminate that people aren't so objective as they like to think they are.
Society always has and will be bullshit. That's mostly the point, though, the point doesn't end there.

« on: January 07, 2011, 03:03:35 PM »What do you think of the celebration of some assassins - columbine, jeff weise, that finn, the asian (altough I don't think he was praised so much).
I praise them for sending a wake-up call, and for being right about a lot of things, but mostly I have compassion. It's usually a waste. The Asian dude had an awesome kill count but wasn't as clearly an ideological dissident. Pekka-Eric Auvinen and Jeff Weisse were the most clearly onto something.
Jeff Weise didn't really impress me either, he clearly didn't really have a coherent idealogy. Kid just had problems -- he did grow up on a reservation, right? He should've just chilled, found a better dealer, and stopped dressing up like some horned animal.
Pekka was clearly ubermensch. Shame he had to waste himself on "terrorism."
Cho was fucking nuts, but holy shit, again, that kill count with 2 pistols (one being a .22) is pretty magnificent. Then again, wild animals have better instincts than college weenies.

« on: January 07, 2011, 12:14:25 AM »I am so confident about winning the sled dog race, that I have sold all of my furniture so that I can have more practice space. With the money I win from the sled race, I will buy new furniture. I have never seen wiener dogs in an alaskan sled race before, but because of the early-on master training I am letting them have the opportunity to endure, I think my chances are at a solid 110%.
I think it your are pretty serious for your sled dog race that you sold your furniture for space but it is good that you are confident about it. I hope you win too so you can buy a newer furniture's for your home because we know it makes the house complete to live in. Anyways you can make furniture's for yourself if you like because with the right tools and materials it is easy to make one.
Holy fucking God, the spam bots are becoming more and more intelligent.
If they namedropped Burzum or Julius Evola, I don't think anybody would even realize.
