Metal / Re: Malayasia bans Black Metal

I'm not sure what admin means by 'creating a place for metal to be safe,' but I am guessing that his strict adherance to nationalism overrides any hope for metal enlightenment for Malayasians.  :'(

Distinguish between the usual aggressive passivity of the 'sheep' and taking an assertive approach.

The sheep may react by stomping on the Qoran or cursing Malaysia from afar on some remote metal message boards. This is the usual idiotic aggressive passivity one may expect. Non-symbolic and non-emotionally fueled methods can also achieve goals.

Malaysia does not appear to be non-nationalist.

WFIT and WUCF had substantial hardcore punk and death metal on the air from the mid 80s into the early 90s. Jazz and NPR judeo-liberal Weimar Republic commentary courtesy of the fun, liberating Alternative Lifestyles people have swallowed the former whole. Apparently 1930s jazz and ancient Greece queer bathouse personalities is progressive. The latter still contains alternative/punk fashionable lifestyles programming, some marjinalized folk on the side, but no metal at all.

Metal / University Metalheads

About fifteen years ago, give or take, metalheads on campuses across North America were more commonplace than African Americans. After visiting campuses since then, my own impression is that heavy metal culture has dwindled to nothing. In its place, globalist-approved prefabricated mainstream lifestyles have completely taken over. This means the hip hop, emo and punk marketed lifestyles kiddies have overrun turf formerly occupied by metal culture. Additionally, heavy metal college radio, to my knowledge, has dwindled or died off completely in many places.
For those of you in universities or colleges now, we need verification that this is or is not the case in 2006. Does your campus have at least a small, visible population of metalheads or heavy metal campus radio?

Metal / October Is Hessian History Month

Hessian History Month

October marks the beginning of Hessian History Month - an annual celebration that has existed since 1776. But what are the origins of Hessian History Month?
Much of the credit can go to the very voluminous stores contained in the libraries and archives of Germany, whos historians have endeavored to bring Hessian History into the mainstream public arena. German-American historians have devoted their lives to making "the world see the Hessian as a participant rather than as a lay figure in history."

In 2006 German-American historians organized the first annual Hessian History Week, which took place during the last week of October. These historians chose this date to co-incide with the ancient Samhain (pronounced Sah-ween) festival, celebrated throughout Europe and the Americas. Samhain is a special time of year for Hessians because this is when the boundary between the world of the living and the afterlife come together, allowing the deceased of the world to pass on.

Over time, Hessian History Week evolved into the Hessian History Month that we know today - a four-week-long celebration of Hessian American History.
