"Nord" is good, the rest is shit. They're like most metal bands today: competent, but don't have anything substantial or new to communicate, and thus opt for the same moronic four-chord-cycle with satanic lyrics and AIDS-ridden CDs released on mainstream labels.

It's still possible to order "Snowland", the first masterpiece from this artist, by contacting him through the MyAIDS account:

http://www.myspace.com/sorcierdesglaces666

It costs $15 (= no porn magazine this week).

-  And it's worth it.

I agree mostly with Blaphbee; while this album shows signs of brilliance in composition, breaking the boundaries of blockhead black metal and instead opting for a free and classical-inspired structure wholly based on experience and emotion, the communication through melodic aesthetic sometimes falls short. I'm also uncertain whether the slow breaks in the middle sections serve a higher purpose, than mere self-reflection. I also think he could have developed the piano sections a bit more, but that's me whining, perhaps after having gone through a series of Jewish symphonies by Gustav Mahler.

Overall, one of the better albums released this year, and definitely one of the few black metal artists I still think are worth praising.

Metal / Neoclassical Compilation Vol. 2
« on: December 20, 2006, 02:52:20 PM »
The Neoclassical Compilation Volume 2 is dedicated to the neoclassical tradition in music. This form of art tries to resurrect the ancient indoeuropean soul, through either modern instrumentation or classical compositional style. The end result is a brave attempt in reviving honor, tradition, and peace with the natural order. This compilation includes some of the top acts within neoclassical music, offered free of charge, to inspire and stimulate the soul and senses of the modern man.

I emailed that address a month ago, and still no answer...I sent him a notice over myAIDS.com - we'll see his response there.

As soon as I got the new album here, I'll immediately upload it to the "Audiofile"-section and begin a review for the DLA.

Thanks a lot for the info Agnan, I'll place an order right away. Does anyone know where to order his first album? The email from the official website is dead it seems.

Welcome to Radio Nihil - the only radio show on the Internet that brings you the perfect mix of important news, philosophical nihilism and quality music. We believe that radio should communicate meaningful ideas with its listeners, and therefore our shows are built around the concept of art: if we got something important to say, we'll say it without moral or social restrictions. Radio Nihil brings you news that most people don't want to talk about: environmental crisis, corrupt political power and selfishness among the people we thought were most worthy of our trust.

We are the only radio show present that dares to take on any subject without moralizing or turning it into a popularity contest. We're not interested in entertain you with commercials, rants or mass-produced music; we're here to inform you about our modern society and where it is failing. It is our belief that when we strip away our personal fears, our inherent guilts, our plastic technology, and our social pressure from other people, we are able to perceive reality on a more realistic level. We wish to provide you with an alternative way of looking at things, and guiding you into a more positive path for the future.

Roman, Johan Helmich

Johan Helmich Roman - Drottningholmsmusiken (Megaupload)
This is a cult piece of Swedish classical music, well fit for royal occasions and such. It's highly recommended for those who enjoy fine art in subtle emotional expression (think baroque, but more pompous and aristocratic).
