Metal / Group project: what is metalcore?
« on: April 24, 2013, 06:39:24 PM »
I didn't like the article.

The Haunted, metalcore? Who is Fugazi. Meshuggah?

Does metalcore mean anything?

Interzone / How fragile it all is
« on: April 24, 2013, 06:37:37 PM »
A few days after the Boston marathon blew up, this happens.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2013/apr/23/ap-tweet-hack-wall-street-freefall

One Syrian guy hacks into AP's fucking Twitter account and sends the stock market into the toilet.

What if theyd hacked Rueters as well? And UPI, maybe WSJ. Full on fucking panic.

If they did that at the same time the bombs went off? Stock market collapse, panic.

If they also shut down the water supply, blew up a refinery, or shut down the phone system? This place would explode.

I feel really vulnerable

Interzone / Terrorism causes liberalism.

It's weird but I have sympathy for the idiots who blew up the Boston Marathon. alone in a strange land, with no friends, feeling like an alien. Of course you want to blow up something! Also that no one can tell the difference between "Chechnya" and "Czech republic" is challenging. Then there is the problem that American society is crazy and your future as a young person is to work in boring job until your fingers fall off, then they retire you to Florida to die of cancer, and that's if your lucky. I think about blowing it up sometimes too, or just going to far away places like antartica and hiding

Because of my son, "Aspies" hold a special place in my heart. So whenever I hear someone in my industry talk about hiring an Aspie, I cringe just a little. Because in technology, saying you've hired an Aspie is like code to say that you've hired a machine.

It's true that there are a lot of benefits in hiring someone with Asperger's. Research from Harvard Business School shows the strengths of people with Asperger's and high-functioning autism make them especially well-suited for software development and testing. They have the ability to focus for extended periods. They have very good memories and are often highly intelligent. Their strong analytical skills make them talented at technology work.

I hired someone with Asperger's -- now what?

"I doubt you could find an entrepreneur who doesn't have a few Aspie behaviors."

This describes you guys so much I'm wondering why you aren't ruling the world already lol

Interzone / Is metal populist?
« on: April 01, 2013, 03:13:11 PM »
This will probably be a not popular question, but is metal populist? Black Sabbath had #1 singles and wrote pop songs, Metallica was popular even in their "hard" days, Slayer sells out stadiums, even Cannibal Corpse is huge now. Metal music appears to be designed for the popular culture and the normal people who inhabit it. Even Burzum is writing pop songs now.

Do we have to all quit and go home because this music is for the crowd, and not the elites? Are we elites? It seems to me that the kids in the private colleges are the smart ones, while the public school kids have a certain kind of functionary intelligence and tend to go on to have positions of obvious power in society. While the private school kids become artists, visionaries and so forth.

Does our society still have a caste structure? If so, is metal for the masses or the elites? If it's for the masses, why is this site trying to treat it like an elite?

Interzone / Poop comments
« on: March 28, 2013, 07:32:42 PM »
Does anyone else not like to poop in public restrooms?

I don't like it at all. They tend to be grubby places, germy and gross. What is that brown liquid, on the floor, coffee or... oh god no. They are not very private. People come in and look at your shoes and they're like "Oh hi Addison, you're taking a huge crap. Tell me all about it." People also judge you on the smell of your excrement. You'll hear people make comments like too much broccoli or this guy eats a lot of pork.

Today however myself and Del Taco brought to my workplace a spectacular poop. If it were a fish, it would a prize catch. I could see bits of red pepper in it. I brought a book and read it while I polluted the air. I hear people groan as they opened the door and caught a whiff. When I was done, I wish they had a scale in the toilet because I swear I took the biggest poop of anyone here today.

The only down side is that I can't tell anyone about it. Must have been 2kg if it was an ounce.
