That's funny but the problem is that Shadows Fall grew out of a leftist vegan HC band called Overcast, and that band has a huge cult following among the hoodie wearing karate-kicking pit types. A pity. That band needs to die and soon.
* We do not publically identify ourselves as metalheads;
* We do not support metal or "the underground";
So what are you supposed to do if you're in a band? I see the thrust of your proposal, but it seems like total abandonment is what you're advocating.
Ok you got me. I wrote my statement realizing that I didn't have an ironclad case in terms of examples. Also, it seems like most everyone's mind is made up around here- there's nothing new that's good. I still say that seeking out good metal (regardless of vintage) and focusing on enjoying it rather than bemoaning everything is still a better way to go. Like I said, we've got almost 30 years of good stuff- that should be sufficient for everyone. Hell, Hitler became immortal in less time than that.
Anything with the sheer volume of output that metal has now is going to give rise to a lot of chaff and less wheat. But there is still goodness to find- it just takes patience and dedication. It's very easy to just say "everything sucks", but hey- defeatism is the path of the loser. We have over 30 years of brilliant material to justify the genre as a whole. I for one still investigate new stuff and get what enjoyment I can from it while supplementing it with heavy doses of tried and true classics. It's a lot more fun than sitting around and bitching about how things used to be better.

I think this band survives on pure persistence.

seems likely it is the one with the apparent right to the name, which is the "Gaahl and friends" line up. Either way, that should be a good tour.

Where is the rest of this interview, the so-called "full version"?
One thing that bothered me is that for all their talk about ascending beyond the flesh they expressed their view of the world and its constituents from a purely human perspective:
If you look at the film site you'll see that this is a work in progress, and like most films a good deal of the content will be "on the cutting room floor". So maybe we'll never see it all. And from looking at the other content it's clear that the filmmakers are interested in opinions about society and the world at large so the band answered accordingly.

hahaha as usual the monkeys over at Blabbermouth are hooting and hurling their shit. Those kids freak out pretty badly when ideas more complex than "FUKKIN HOSTILLLLLLLLLLE!" come along.
