Metal / Under the Banner of the Serpent Sun released
« on: September 16, 2012, 08:15:09 PM »
"Under the Banner of the Serpent Sun", a new 3 way split featuring Into Oblivion, Cromlech, Shoor has been released.

The split features 2 brand new tracks from the undisputed champion of "Progressive War Metal", Into Oblivion (Canada), along with two tracks from the upcoming Epic Heavy Metal Band "Cromlech" (Canada). For those into something a little more contemplative, the Split also included 3 tracks from instrumental act "Shoor", an act influenced by Dead Can Dance and Middle Eastern folk melodies.

If you are kult enough you will be able to get your hands on a copy........

Metal / Dead Can Dance - 2012 Setlist
« on: August 24, 2012, 04:12:02 PM »
I just saw Dead can Dance last night. I was extremely dissapoined with there set-list. I believe they played 1 song from there first 5 records. Those of you attending any of there upcoming concerts, please keep this in mind. Although they were fantastic live, and they are talented musicians, I was absolutely dumbstruck by their setlist. Has anyone else seen them live yet?

Metal / Solstice - New Dark Age
« on: August 14, 2012, 01:57:42 AM »
A reliable source recently recommended this to me. Upon initial listen I was sceptical but upon further listen I have come to appreciate this album for what it is, namely epic, doom-Laden heavy metal........it knows what it is and works within the genres orthodox framework. Any other thoughts on this band?

Metal / Rob Darken: Hessian
« on: February 25, 2012, 07:34:58 PM »
After reading the inlay of the new Lord Wind, a friend of mine commented that Rob Darken has become the pre-eminent spokesperson for the metal community. I have to agree!

 Here's why:

"The Past is as mysterious as the future. Compared to the power of the Universe a concept of time is just another illusion which a man takes as a guide in his life. Time is an illusion. At the present time man is more distant from the Truth than it was in the beginning. Mterialism replaces spirituality We limit ourselves basing our confidence in technology. It is a straight way to self destruction. From the beginning of our existence on earth we are losing our spiritual and supernatural abilitites in favour for materialism that destroys our planet. This process has a name -- it is called de--evolution. Light and wisdom of the Atlantean civilization still flows in us. It is in our blood and it becomes a force that is still able to inspire us to follow a different route...Openess to the spiritual dimensions of the Universe is the key to find harmony and save our planet from chaos. With this album I wanted to draw your attention to the things that man see's less and less despite they surround him. For me Ales Stenar is not only the pagan temple associated with the Vikings but most of all it represents the Temple of the Sun...pure message from the past, a guideline and indication that directs us on our spiritual journey to our roots that are enfolded with the fog of oblivion. Start this journey seek, do not be afraid to dream and to submit to your own imagination. In these days when greed triumphs and sincerity and sentimentality are trample, Solar Gods of Atlantis can show us the path to harmony. What is the most precious in us will survive. Death is not the end. A long way still awaits us. This way does not have to end. Time does not exist. There is no measure in the entire Universe that can determine the length of this road. We will exist as long as the Universe exists. The space in which we are now is only for the moment and this moment is so short that we are not able to understand the infinity and magnitude of the universe. Find spirituality in your life and you find the harmony. Let our album "Ales Stenar" although in small part inspire you to thid quest. Awake in you the desire for something deeper and supernatural..."

-Rob Darken-

(All awkward turns of phrase are his)

What are people's thought's on this?

Interzone / Ideas have Consequences
« on: January 11, 2012, 10:12:45 PM »
A text worth reading: Richard Weaver's " Ideas have Consequences".

Although not all of the philosophical ideas are not flushed out, the book is a vitriolic condemnation of modernity and expresses some of the primal tenants of Traditionalism/Conservatism.

A taste:

"Equality is a disorganizing concept in so far as human relationships mean order. It is order without design; it attempts a meaningless and profitless regimentation of what has been ordered from time immemorial by the scheme of things. No society can rightly offer less than equality before the law; but there can be no equality of condition between youth and age or between the sexes; there cannot be equality even between friends. The rule is that each shall act where he is strong; the assignment of identical roles produces first confusion and then alienation, as we have increasing opportunity to observe...."

The text is widely available.

Listening to an audiobook can be a great way of practicing concentration skills.

This site offers some fantastic audiobooks that are free because they exist in the public domain. Thought I would pass this jewel along....

Metal / 1349-Demonoir
« on: June 04, 2010, 06:37:58 PM »
Has any heard this yet? To be quite honest i found this bands last album to be quite compelling and i am curious to know what the concensus is regarding the new album.

I have heard a few new tracks and while it seems like a return to the earlier blasting style that seemed to have won many fans over- No doubt many Marduk fans- these new tracks do seem inspired, tight and contain more in them than mere speed. The ambient tracks seem intriguing as well.

Overall my initial impression is that this is a solid album, although nothing remarkable.

Agree? Disagree?
